Remember how the data game in Singapore got leveled up when Circles.Life entered the market?
Telcos started offering better plans with more data, to combat this new player who provides plans that seem too good to be true.
M1 launched Singapore’s first unlimited 4G data plan, followed by StarHub who launched the first weekend unlimited plans.
SingTel was the last to join in the game of offering unlimited data plans.
But just when you think nothing can gets better than this, someone out there comes up with an even better plan that sweeps everyone off their feet.
According to The Star Online, Malaysian telco Maxis has added 10GB of data to its 4 MaxisOne Plans.
It’s not even like a new plan that they are enticing you to change to. You just get 10GB for free, if you’re already under that plan.
The basic MaxisOne Plan 98 (RM98/month, SGD32/month) will now give users 30GB of data.
That’s almost 1GB per day???
According to British Telecommunications, 1GB of data lets you send or receive about 1,000 emails and browse the Internet for about 20 hours.
Which is obviously way more than enough.
However, the 30GB is split up into 15GB for all-day usage and 15GB for the weekend.
Not a problem for me.
There’s an even greater benefit for the higher tier plans: data will not be split and can be used anytime.
This applies to the MaxisOne Plan 128 (SGD 42), 158 (SGD 52) and 188 (SGD 62).
Each of the plans now offer 40GB, 50GB and 60GB respectively.
Wait 60 GB…that’s like 137 four-minute YouTube videos every day.
The best part is, the upgrade applies to everyone, regardless of their device, bundles or contract.
And no, they are not taking away the unlimited calls and SMS that were part of the plans.
This is like the perfect plan for all data-deprived individual who also relies on SMS at times.
And it’s pretty affordable too….hmmm.
