Virtual Reality/ Augmented Reality’s all the rage nowadays, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Effectively an improved form of the basic gaming mechanics we are all familiar with, virtual reality lends an even more immersive edge to players. Gamers will now be even more in tune with the virtual world, with their senses stimulated past the initial sensory stages.

Augmented reality, on the other hand, merges reality with the virtual word. Case example: Pokemon Go.

So yeah, I can kinda understand why these areas have become so mainstream in recent times.

But it seems that it will only be getting even more mainstream.

Or at least in Malaysia, anyway.

Malaysia’s first ever…

For our Malaysian counterparts, you’re in for a treat.

Because Malaysian’s first ever VR/AR Theme Park has finally opened!

Located on the third floor of the Mid Valley Megamall in Malaysia, The Rift, as it’s called, is Malaysia’s first ever hybrid Virtual Reality (VR) / Augmented Reality (AR) theme park.

The theme park comprises up to 24 different “reality-altering”, “physically-challenging” experiences, from virtual free-roaming shooters to physical vertigo-climbing wall climbs. Needless to say, it all comes with some plenty cool VR headsets to get yourself immersed in the experience.

There are 5 primary attractions to knock yourselves out at:

Zero Latency: Survive a zombie apocalypse in Outbreak or Zombie survival, crack puzzles in Engineerium, or hold a rescue mission to rescue survivors from a spaceship in Singularity.

Motion Blaster: Eliminate predators in virtual reality and “save the world!”

RaceRoom: Always burning your credits via arcade games like Need For Speed and Daytona? If you do, this one’s for you. Challenge yourself here with state-of-art racing specs, complete with surreal sounds and effects.

Hurricane VR: This no-chill flying ride takes you on an “exhilarating flying journey through a virtual universe”.
