What do you when you have money troubles?
Most of us would try and get a job, but that’s not always easy to do.
You could maybe sell some old things that you don’t need, like that Hello Kitty iPad cover and human-sized chicken nugget pillow.
This is what normal people would do.
If you’re an immoral douche, however, you’d force your girlfriend to prostitute herself and keep the money for yourself.
Man Forced Girlfriend to Prostitute Herself
An unemployed man has admitted to prostituting his girlfriend after he was unable to find a job.
By the time his offences came to light, his girlfriend had earned more than $40,000 from all her services.
The man used this money to pay for his living expenses.
In all started in late 2018, when the man met the Filipina through a dating app while in the Philippines.
She was just 17 at the time, and the man was 26.
Before the couple started dating, the man had been convicted in 2016 for prostituting women, aged 17 to 22, and was sentenced to jail.
In Jan 2019, he asked his girlfriend to accompany him back to Singapore to meet his parents.
He told her he needed her to bail him out in case he got arrested, but the pair returned to the Philippines a few days later without incident.
Lost Money at Casino
It was then that all the man’s financial troubles began, and it was all of his own doing.
The man began losing money at a casino and instead of trying to recoup the money he lost, he asked his girlfriend to sell nude photos and videos, and perform sexual acts over live video calls.
The woman, who had just turned 18, agreed.
The man took the photos and videos of the woman, charging $10 for four photographs, and $10 for a minute of a video.
Video calls cost $25 for every five minutes.
Arrested For Prior Offences
Then, the man was arrested for his prior offences. His girlfriend asked the man’s parents for help to bail him out, but they refused.
Instead, the man’s father purchased the woman a plane ticket back to the Philippines.
But after the man was bailed out, he begged her to remain in Singapore.
This wasn’t the kind of begging where you get on your knees and tell someone you love them, though.
He took her passport from her and kept it so she wouldn’t leave without his knowledge. He asked her to enrol in a local school to remain with him and she agreed.
But she would later learn why he wanted her to stay in the country so badly.
Forced Her to Have Sex For Money
When he was unable to find employment, the man first asked his girlfriend to sell her used underwear, but then their customers started asking for sex.
The woman was reluctant, but the man persuaded her claiming he needed money to hire a lawyer.
The Filipina charged between $150 and $1,000 for her services.
The man acted as her pimp, managing her bookings.
At some point, the woman became reluctant to carry on providing such services. At this point the man had two options:
- Realise he was doing something horrible to his girlfriend, stop, and give himself up to the police
- Anything but force his girlfriend to prostitute herself
Unsurprisingly, the man went with number 2.
The man hit her and even threatened to expose her nude photos to her mother on her social media account.
Fearful, she continued to provide sexual services.
Nasi Lemak Telegram Group Uncovered Offences
It was only when her nude videos surfaced on the Telegram group Nasi Lemak that the man’s offences came to light.
By then, the woman had had sex with 20 to 30 customers, and earned between $9,000 and $13,500.
The Filipina was placed in a woman’s shelter after police officers raided her flat on 14 October 2019.
The man, meanwhile, had gone on the run.
Later that month, the girlfriend managed to get a phone to contact the man in secret. The phone was seized by the police and the man was arrested in a hotel room on 18 October 2019.
Facing Other Charges
The man also faced one count of criminal breach of trust, which he admitted to as well.
He had misappropriated $40,000 from a company whose director he had cheated.
Two other charges of a similar nature were taken into consideration for sentencing.
