The Try Guys Part Ways With Ned Fulmer After He Admitted To ‘Consensual Workplace Relationship’

Cheating scandals and/or allegations are not rare in showbiz.

You can find a baker’s dozen of them at any given week.

But no one expected it from Ned Fulmer, Try Guy and YouTube personality who has always been portrayed as a “family man” and wife-obsessed ever since he came to fame during BuzzFeed’s golden days.

The Breakaway From Ned Fulmer

In a statement on Tuesday (28 Sep), The Try Guys, now composed of only Keith Habersberger, Eugene Lee Yang and Zach Kornfeld, announced that Ned Fulmer is no longer working at the company that they built together in 2018.

The statement read, “As a result of a thorough internal review, we do not see a path forward together. We thank you for your support as we navigate this change.”

On Fulmer’s end, he has also confirmed that he had a “consensual workplace relationship”, and he apologised to his fans and family.

He said, “Family should have always been my priority, but I lost focus and had a consensual workplace relationship. I’m sorry for any pain that my actions may have caused to the guys and fans but most of all to Ariel. The only thing that matters right now is my marriage and my children, and that’s where I am going to focus my attention.”

His wife, Ariel, has posted a statement as well, but it is mainly a plea for privacy.

“Thanks to everyone who reached out to me— it means a lot. Nothing is more important to me and Ned than our family, and all we request right now is that you respect our privacy for the sake of our kids.

Who Are The Try Guys?

The Try Guys was formed in 2014, while Fulmer, Habersberger, Kornfeld and Yang were working for BuzzFeed. They became internet sensations for their willingness to try anything and everything.

The four men eventually moved on from BuzzFeed to create their independent company called 2nd Try, and launched their own YouTube channel, which now boasts 7.9 million subscribers.

When The Try Guys went independent, Fulmer’s wife, Ariel, became more prominent on screen, featuring in some videos called Try Wives’ Wine Time with Becky (Keith’s wife), Maggie (Zach’s girlfriend) and occasionally Matt (Eugene’s boyfriend).

Ariel also hosts a podcast called You Can Sit With Us, but fans noted that she has been absent for the past two episodes.

Each of The Try Guys are known for different things: Keith is known for his obsession for fried chicken and his series for tasting a whole plethora of food, Eugene for his LGBTQ+ advocacy and fashion, Zach on the struggles with his disability, and Ned’s online personality revolved around him being a family man.

The Fulmer couple had their first child, Wesley, while the guys were setting up their company. They recently had another son named Finn.

 How Was The Infidelity Revealed?

Fulmer’s infidelity was confirmed on 27 September 2022.

In late September, a video of Ned kissing the Try Guys producer Alex Herring—who also stars in a series called Food Babies—in a New York City bar surfaced on the internet.

The day after, The Try Guys declared that Ned Fulmer was fired from the company.

However, it is likely that Ariel and the staff at 2nd Try had known about the “consensual work relationship” much earlier.

In a Twitter thread that concisely summarises odd details that date back to two weeks ago, fans have been noticing that Ned Fulmer has been absent from the past three videos and podcast.

As a matter of fact, Fulmer wasn’t even present in the introduction of the videos because it has been replaced with a new one that only has Yang, Kornfeld and Habersberger.

This is incredibly strange and worrying as Fulmer is one of the mainstays of the channel.

Additionally, the three aforementioned videos appear to be incomplete, like Ned had been edited out of them.

This is further supported by the following picture, whereby both Ned and Alex were seen at the Las Vegas shoot for Keith’s Eat The Menu episode, but they did not even make a cameo in the video.

It is suspected that a part of the buffet was cut out.

The Tea Gets Hotter

Although the sources seem mixed for this, the person who allegedly exposed Fulmer’s infidelity on Reddit was either Alex Herring’s (ex-)fiancé, Will Thayer, or Will’s friend.

The exposé thread by Reddit user hamilton390 starts with damning screenshots of DM messages someone (supposedly Will) received.

They write, “so basically I went out to niagara the club last night and saw her making out with ned from the try guys, I have videos if needed.”

There were also videos attached in the DMs.

“[It was] just them two nobody else,” the person adds. “They weren’t even trying to be private, the entire time they were making out, he was touching her too [and] all that stuff.”

The fans proceed to defend Fulmer in the Reddit thread, stating that the video isn’t sufficient evidence due to its blurriness. One even points out that hamilton490 seems to have made their account for the sole purpose of criticising Fulmer.

It should be noted that hamilton390 started talking about how Ned has been cheating on his wife since 3 September 2022.

Before hamilton390 deleted his account for good, he left the following message after attaching a screenshot of Fulmer from their contacts app, “There’s more to it that I’m not willing to share. But go ahead and tell me if I’m bluffing. This is Will Thayer @wht3. Alex’s fiancée. There you go.”

The Internet Never Forgets

Perhaps the worst part is that this might not be the first time Fulmer has cheated on his wife.

In the midst of the internet outrage, a Twitter user managed to dig out another post from one year ago, where Reddit user DennisRodmanNosering recalls meeting The Try Guys at a bar and Ned reportedly tried to hook up with his friend.

He continues to relate that the girl was just trying to “have a good time” but Fulmer kept making persistent advances on her. He even offered to go back to their hotel to give her backstage tickets for their show the next day.

Dennis then asks someone with glasses—either Keith or Zach—if Ned is always “that sloppy”.

The person reluctantly tells Dennis that yes, the “family man” is always that sloppy.

The implication that The Try Guys have known about Ned’s flirtations with other women but kept quiet about it for more than a year is absolutely horrendous.

Social Distancing

Ever since the announcement, a couple things have happened.

The Try Guys and their staff have unfollowed Fulmer on their social media accounts, and Fulmer’s contact information has been removed from their bio.

YB Chang, senior editor at Try Guys and co-star of Food Babies has unfollowed Alex as well.

Will Thayer has also unfollowed Alex, removed all the pictures of them together on his Instagram, and made his account private.

Likewise, Alex has removed pictures of Will from her Instagram.

It appears that one marriage needs mending, and one engagement has been broken off…

While it has not been announced if Alex has been removed from her position as Try Guys producer, the likelihood is high.
