Neighbour Dry Laundry at Staircase Landing & Kena Stomped Immediately

Singapore has been raining a lot these days; there were even flash floods in certain areas of Singapore yesterday.

So you can imagine the laundry situation at home if you don’t have a dryer.

Unlike us, a particular resident came up with an ingenious idea to dry her laundry albeit inconsiderate.

What happened

Stomper JA was taken aback when she saw this at the tenth floor of Block 303B Anchorvale Link:

Rows and rows of laundry near the staircase landing.

But thanks to Stomper JA who alerted to Stomp, Ang Mo Kio Town Council has stepped in.

In response to media queries by Stomp, a spokesman for Ang Mo Kio Town Council said: ” “In accordance with Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) regulations, items placed along the common corridor must not cause any obstruction.”

“A clear passageway of 1.2m clearance is to be maintained at all times, ensuring an unobstructed escape path during emergency situations,” the spokesperson added.

Netizens’ reactions

Whenever there is some absurd news, you can always count on netizens to keep things light.

Thoughts

I guess times are hard these days, with the rain and all but don’t further dampen people’s mood already.

There are many ways to dry your laundry during the monsoon season.

You can use a hairdryer.

Maybe you can place them in the living room with the fan blowing at it?

Get a dryer, perhaps? Though it isn’t’ the most economical solution.

Either way, you shouldn’t be obstructing common areas.

“We have advised the resident and the laundry was promptly removed from the staircase area. We will continue to monitor the situation and educate residents on the issue,” the spokesman said.

Let’s hope that she is airing her dirty laundry somewhere else.
