To me, the worst flooding incident will always be the 2009 Bukit Timah flood.
Maybe it’s because of how my senior sensationalized it with a tale about how everyone had to alight from the bus and swim to school just to take their GCE ‘A’ levels examination.
Anyway, floods are pretty common in Singapore these days. I would actually classify them as one of the only two natural disasters of Singapore, with the other one being a foreign invasive species known as E-Scooter, which is learning to fly at the current moment.
Anyway, the heavy storm this morning (8 Jan) has resulted in a tree along Lorong 6 Toa Payoh falling onto the road.
According to SCDF, two people were taken to Tan Tock Send Hospital due to the incident.
In a video uploaded onto the Facebook page of Channel NewsAsia, we can clearly see the moment the tree topples over.

(Yikes, I definitely do not want to be caught in that!)
As you can see from the image below, the fallen tree pretty much crippled the traffic on one side of the road.
Let’s hope that the two involved in the incident will make a quick recovery!
Anyway, while I was scrolling through the comments in an attempt to look for updates, I managed to come across an interesting comment.
Would you have turned away or driven forward to help if you were there? While netizens are pretty divided over the “right” thing to do, I think we can all agree that the condition of these trees by the roadside should be checked on every so often.
With that being said, stay safe on the roads and remember to look upwards every now and then!
Since you’re here, why not watch a video about a guy who lodged a Police report here in Singapore because he was friendzoned? Seriously. Here, watch it and do remember to share it (and also subscribe to Goody Feed YouTube channel)!
