I love Namewee’s songs and I cannot lie.
I know some of you guys might have issues with Namewee (For whatever reason) and don’t sit too well with his views or something.
But hey, the guy’s talented and you know it.
I mean, his songs are so diversified. He is capable of writing songs that are hilarious (泰国情哥 Thai Love Song) and songs that are downright touching (老母Mother).
Most of you would probably know Namewee for his song, “飘向北方”. In the MV, he performed a duet with Leehom Wang (王力宏). Here’s a video to refresh your memory.
Simply magnificent.
Just so you know, my favorite Namewee song is “老母Mother” (The one he sang with his mother).
So, now that I have your attention, just allow me to say;
Namewee’s done it again.
I’m sure most 90s kids grew up watching 搞笑行动 (Comedy night) on channel 8. Those were the simpler days, when smartphones were non-existent. As kids, the television was one of the best ways for us to spend our time.
Amidst the vast array of television series, 搞笑行动 was one of the most memorable shows for me.
Characters like 梁婆婆 (Liang Po Po) were made popular by the show, and there was even a movie for the character! (Woo woo woo!)
So now, just imagine what will happen if you combine Namewee and 搞笑行动.
All right, stop imagining and look here.
The results are as below:
The theme song of 搞笑行动,Namewee style!
When I first saw the video, I honestly shed a tear. The chorus of the song tugged at my heartstrings.
It was a full on, unashamed, nostalgia overload.
Even though I haven’t heard the song in ages, I somehow remembered the lyrics and sang along to the familiar tune.
Simply put, it was a compilation of all of my childhood evenings in one video.
Thank you, Jack Neo. Thank you, Namewee.
Nationalities and languages might split people apart, but positive nostalgia is a global language spoken by everyone.
Now, I have another reason to go to Namewee’s concert in 2018.
