GO GO POWER RANGERS

I can’t count of the number of mornings I spent as a kid yelling that while dancing around in Power Ranger poses, singing along to the chorus of the theme song.

Because who else can make campy poses look cool other than the Might Morphin gang?

Seeing as how capitalising off our childhood is the new way to make money in Hollywood, naturally, Saban Entertainment, the distributor of Power Rangers content, grabbed the opportunity to make a live-action movie in 2017.

Despite the subpar reviews and box office performance, it appears as though they’re making another one.

New Power Rangers In The Works

The 2017 film didn’t do so well, grossing only $142 million from its $100 million budget, and being generally negatively received by critics.

I personally thought it wasn’t too bad.

It wasn’t great. but it wasn’t hot trash either, you know?

And it had some cool parts they did right.

Like this:

You know you cheered on the inside when they cued the nostalgic song.

In August last year, Hasbro announced that a sequel was in the early stages of development.

However, recent news reveals that it might not be the case.

None of the original cast is returning for the “sequel”.

Dacre Montgomery, who played the Red Ranger in the 2017 movie, has recently revealed that neither he nor the rest of the cast including Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, and Ludi Lin is involved with this so-called “sequel”.

“I think there is a movie in the works but it’s not with me and the cast,” he said.

So this might suggest that the upcoming film is not a sequel, but a reboot.

Well, the world of Power Rangers is no stranger to repeated cast changes even since the phenomenal TV series, so this wouldn’t be that big of a news.

But we do hope they get it right this time, eh?

What about you?

Do you prefer a clean reboot with a fresh cast, or did you like the 2017 cast and want them to stay on?
