I wasn’t even surprised when my friend showed me this report last night. Singapore is a boring city? Well, what’s new, right?
To be fair, I gotta say that Singapore ranks high when it comes to a lot of things. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that we are one of the safest countries in the world—something most of you would probably agree.
Anyway, let’s get back on topic. We are here to talk about Singaporean’s excitement level after all.
According to Time Out’s City Life Index 2018, Singapore is one of the least exciting among 32 cities from around the world, coming in at number 31.
The results were obtained from a total of 15000 people from the 32 cities in question, taking into account factors such as food, culture, drink, friendliness, livability, affordability and happiness.
…I think it’s safe for us to remove things like culture, happiness and drink from the list without a second thought.
And sadly, I wasn’t wrong to assume so.
According to Time Out, Singapore is the worst rated city for culture and drinking, apart from Dubai for the latter.
In case you are wondering, here are the ratings for the cities according to Time Out:
In comparison, Chicago, which is the “greatest city in the world”, is also deemed “one of the happiest and proudest cities” worldwide.
However, I think it’s fair for us to say that the results here are really subjective. To each his own, you know. To some people, the comfort and safety of Singapore might be more important than any form of excitement we’re talking about here.
After all, I’m pretty sure most of us can afford a short getaway to another more “exciting” place if we really want to.
And most importantly, come on lah, you all also know how Singaporeans like to complain non-stop right?
Seriously though, given our complacency and innate tendency to complain about every single thing under the sun, it’s no surprise that Singaporeans are, or appear to be unhappy about every damn thing in the world.
Since you’re here, why not watch a video about a guy who lodged a Police report here in Singapore because he was friendzoned? Seriously. Here, watch it and do remember to share it (and also subscribe to Goody Feed YouTube channel)!
