New Survey Reveals Top Most Improved Brands in S’pore & MRT Is Number 1

Unless your name is Patrick Star and you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you’ll know that our MRT system isn’t always super-efficient.

Just a couple of years back, there would be MRT breakdowns literally every other day. In fact, at one point, there was even a wiki page detailing all our MRT breakdowns.

Don’t believe me?

Unfortunately, that particular wiki page has been taken down since Wikipedia is after all not a news site.

But as you can see, there were many breakdowns in 2015 and in subsequent years.

In 2015, breakdowns were so bad that in one instance a whopping 250,000 commuters were left stranded in a disruption that lasted more than two hours after a contaminated electrical component resulted in a tunnel leak.

Thankfully, train breakdowns aren’t as severe now, but they still exist, and when it does happen, backup transport such as shuttle buses are offered relatively promptly.

New Survey Reveals Top Most Improved Brands in S’pore & MRT Is Number 1

And now a new survey has revealed that indeed, MRT is number one on the Top Most Improved Brands In Singapore.

Now let me clarify what is meant by “most improved”. What the survey is referring to is with regards to the question:

“Which of the following brands would you recommend to friends, family or colleagues?”

The results reflect the brands with the highest increase in Recommend scores between 1 November 2018 and 31 October 2019.

So what is the verdict?

Hurray, MRT is at the top of the list by quite a bit. It ranks at number 1 with a score of 26.2 above runner ups Fave at 21.9 and Courts Online at 11.6.

P.S. To make the results more accurate, only respondents who are current or former customers of a given brand are interviewed.

It looks like MRT is slowly regaining its reputation as a trustworthy mode of transport.

Possible Reasons For Improvement Of MRT System

Many years have passed and numerous changes have been made to the MRTs which could’ve resulted in more reliable service.

Besides the addition of more lines and a new MRT map, there was a massive overhaul of the North-South and East-West Lines which began in 2013.

In addition, a new signalling system was also installed which allows for smaller safety distances between trains. This means a shorter wait time for commuters.

So how? You agree or disagree?
