If you’re a watch lover, you probably already know about what’s going down this weekend.
But if you’re not, here’s a picture for you:

Yes, you saw that right; this happened on 26 Mar, not 29 Mar 2022.

Here’s what you need to know:
Omega & Swatch Broke The Internet
Swatch and Omega held the world in suspense for over a week before unleashing the latest collaboration between them early 24 Mar 2022:
The two brands decided on a “playful take” on the famous chronograph Speedmaster model.
They produced several BIOCERAMIC versions, which you can view below:
Drove The Internet Crazy
When the news dropped, the internet went crazy, and for good reason.
There are 11 different models to choose from, all named after planetary bodies.

For example, Venus for powdery pink, Mars for red and Neptune for deep blue.
But there’s another reason why people are going crazy over this admittedly-nice collection.
It’s Cheap
Each watch will cost you S$372.
Now, before you shoot me with your SAR21 because S$372 isn’t cheap, damnit, hear me out
This MoonSwatch model is an entry into owning an Omega Speedy, a must-have according to a Straits Times report.

Except, the Omega Speedy usually comes with a price tag of S$9,000.
But it’s not only the price that’s a draw.
Light & Scratch-Resistant
Watches are typically heavy, but not this particular line of watches.
The new watches are made from Swatch’s latest eco-innovation, Bioceramic.
It’s a lightweight and scratch-resistant sustainable material which consists of ceramic and bioplastic derived from castor oil.

Design
All 11 models have the same design features that made the Speedy a classic.
It comes with a Velcro strap and gets Super-LumiNova for the index and hands, using the same lume as the ones in Omega Speedmasters.
Remember how each of the watches was named after a planetary body? An image of the respective planet will be on the caseback of each watch.
Popular Demand
Back then, people expected the watches to be snapped up in no time, given online response.
And well, they were right.
On 26 Mar 2022, the queue situation on ION Orchard brings one back to a time before COVID-19.

Forums were also abuzz, with people asking if anyone would be there early to snatch up the new watches.
Now, before you’re wondering if it’s too late to go down and get a piece for yourself, here’s what Swatch has to say.
It’s Not Limited Edition
Swatch emphasised on their Facebook page on 26 Mar that the BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch watches are not limited edition.
This means that, if you are willing to wait, you’ll be given the opportunity to purchase in the coming weeks.

Hopefully, by knowing that it’s not a limited edition, you won’t be taken in by scalpers who might already be trying to sell the BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch on Carousell.
Initially, each customer was allowed to purchase two watches.
However, due to overwhelming demand, Swatch has revised the T&C and each customer is limited to one BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch.
They would revert back to two watches per customer as soon as possible.
