A semi-trailer truck was driving down the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) in the direction of Tuas when one of its back wheels flew out. It is believed that the car on the side tried to dodge the “flying wheel”, only to hit the central dividing embankment and overturn.
The incident took place near the exit of Jurong Pier Road, at around 2pm on Thursday (28 Jul).
In the wake of the accident, the 25-year-old female driver was trapped in her car, and two kind-hearted men pulled her out of the vehicle. She was subsequently taken to the hospital.

Many witnesses driving past the scene saw an overturned black Nissan and a wheel of a trailer at the side of the road.
The witnesses believe that one of the wheels of the moving trailer suddenly loosened and flew out.
In an effort to avoid the flying wheel, the car consequently lost control and collided with the central dividing embankment, which caused it to overturn.

The large truck, which was carrying a green container, appeared undamaged, but the rear of the vehicle was missing a tire. Said tire was spotted a short distance away from the car.
After the police arrived and blocked a lane for investigation, there was a traffic jam at the scene.
A police spokesperson stated the car accident involved a semi-trailer truck and a car.
