This year’s 2020 General Election is over and I’m sure many of you are still quite overwhelmed by numerous media sites posting the results in case you missed the live broadcast last night.

But fret not, because if you were too lazy to look through everything, we have gone ahead and summarised it for you in these two simple articles:

And if you are here to have an overview of the constituencies that PAP has more than 70% votes for, aka the list of constituencies that PAP won with a large margin, read on.

Spoilers alert: There’s not a lot.

MacPherson SMC (PAP’s Tin Pei Ling vs PPP’s Goh Meng Seng)

It seems that even after so long, PAP’s Tin Pei Ling is unstoppable. She once again retains her seat in MacPherson SMC after garnering 71.74% of the votes.

People’s Power Party’s (PPP) Goh Meng Seng, on the other hand, only managed to garner 28.26% of the votes.

This was also the only constituency that the PPP was contesting for, making Mr Goh the only representative of the party.

In case you didn’t know, this is the best result that Ms Tin has gotten so far and it’s also one of the best results of PAP.

Here are the results for the last general election in 2015 if you want to compare:

PAP’s Tin Pei Ling: 65.58%
WP’s Bernard Chen: 33.60%
NSP’s Cheo Chai Chen: 0.82%

And before that, Ms Tin was known as a Kate-Spade-loving new candidate who ran in a GRC.

If there’s a comeback story you need to read, it’s Ms Tin’s story.

Mountbatten SMC (PAP’s Lim Biow Chuan vs Peoples Voice’s Sivakumaran Chellappa)

PAP’s Lim Biow Chuan once again retains his seat in Mountbatten SMC after garnering a whopping 73.84of the votes.

Peoples Voice’s Sivakumaran Chellappa, on the other hand, only garnered 26.16% of the votes.

Mr Lim has been representing Mountbatten since 2006, so it is kind of expected that he will continue to retain his seat. After all, he does have a good reputation amongst the residents after serving them for so many years.

This is also one of the best results that PAP has attained in the General Election.

SPP’s Jeannette Chong-Aruldoss: 28.14%

So yes, he got more votes this time around.

Radin Mas (PAP’s Melvin Yong vs RP’s Kumar Appavoo)

It seems that despite this being RP’s Kumar Appavoo’s second time contesting for this seat, he still has no luck to win it.

In this year’s General Election, he went against PAP’s Melvin Yong and lost to him after garnering only 25.97% of the votes.

PAP’s Melvin Yong won 74.03% of the votes.

While you may think that this is surprising because it is Mr Yong’s first time contesting here, he has actually been involved with the residents of Radin Mas over the past few years.

He said, “In fact, over the last five years I’ve met many residents through various community events that I attended.”

This result is one of the best that is attained by a PAP candidate.

Here are the results for the last general election in 2015 if you want to compare:

PAP’s Sam Tan: 77.25%
RP’s Kumar Appavoo: 12.71%
Han Hui Hui: 10.04%

Yup, Ms Han lost her deposit back in 2015.

If you’re a resident of Yuhua, you would have known that PAP’s Grace Fu has been in the seat since she won the 2011 General Election.

She is well known among the community and everyone seems to be very fond of her, so it’s not a surprise that she has once again retained her seat by garnering 70.54% of the votes.

Singapore Democratic Party’s (SDP) Robin Low, on the other hand, is a first-time candidate who only managed to secure 29.46% of the votes.

In this constituency, PAP candidates Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Tan Wu Meng, Rahayu Mahzam, Shawn Huang, and Xie Yao Quan went against Red Dot United (RDU) candidates Ravi Philemon, Liyana Dhamirah, Michelle Lee, Nicholas Tang, and Alec Tok.

PAP garnered 74.62% of the votes whereas RDU garnered 25.38%.

Now, this may seem pretty insane that PAP won by such a huge margin, but it is good to note that in the 2015 General Election, PAP won by nearly 80% of the votes.

This is Jurong GRC after all, and anyone who lives in Jurong knows how popular Tharman is.

Here are the results for the last general election in 2015 if you want to compare:

PAP: 79.28%
SingFirst: 20.72%

PAP garnered 71.91% of the votes where RP garnered 28.09%.

This was sort of expected since the nation’s Prime Minister was contesting for a seat in this GRC. But of course, it was definitely a good effort by the Reform Party (RP) for contesting despite the difficulties.

Did you know that RP actually got more votes during this election than the previous one?

Here are the results for the last general election in 2015 if you want to compare:

PAP: 78.63%
RP: 21.37%
