Police Flies In Like Superman To Save Bedok From Hammer-Wielding Man

Thor’s been having a rough time since Avengers End Game.

And it would seem like the bad streak will continue since Thor’s newest appearance doesn’t look quite good either.

By Thor, I mean an uncle holding a hammer.

Barefooted Hammer-Wielding Man Standing In The Middle Of The Road

Roughly at 5pm, 27 Nov 2019, a video was uploaded onto Reddit r/Singapore showing a barefooted man holding a hammer and walking into the middle of the road and blocking a lorry.

Netizens were concerned for the man on the road in the thread, asking if there was any backstory and for him to get the help he needs.

A few hours later, a video taken from another angle was uploaded onto Facebook page District Singapore. It appears to be taken from the second level of a double-decker bus which was forced to stop because of the man.

The man can be seen standing in the middle of the road, leisurely moving between lanes.

Police can be seen on the grass verge, who seemed to be directed by someone to this location. One policeman tried to call the man away from the middle of the road.

But the man ignored him, then held up his hammer and started hammering on a lorry as it passed him.

And So The Police Moved

Before anybody can get injured, a policeman then flew in like Superman to take the man down.

This wasn’t quite the Superman vs Thor action scene I wanted, but I’ll take it.

Two people in civilian clothing and three Transcom officers then helped to pin the man down.

We’re not sure if these are plainclothes officers or civilians, though from their actions, like taking the handcuffs from another officer and their efficient movements, I’d say the former.

His hammer was quickly taken away from him.

When they got up, the police moved him to the pavements.

Believed To Be Of Unsound Mind

We don’t really know what propelled the uncle to do what he did, but police believe he is of unsound mind.

The 66-year-old will be charged on Thursday for committing a rash act which endangers lives or the personal safety of others under the Penal Code.

Police will also seek to remand him at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric assessment.

Let’s hope that uncle will turn out alright.
