They always say that when you’re pregnant, you need to be very careful when doing things because anything can happen and you might suffer from a miscarriage.
Many people avoid wearing heels totally because they’re afraid that they may fall and cause an injury to their baby, while others still go about doing their normal activities.
Just like this China lady, she and her sister went about doing their daily activities, but unfortunately, because of a very unexpected mistake, her pregnant sister had to suffer and she eventually passed away.
What Happened
On 19 October around 2pm, a pregnant woman and her sister arrive at their destination and were about to park the car.
But her sister didn’t know how to reverse park properly, so she asked for her pregnant sister’s assistance to guide her into the lot.
Her pregnant sister got out of the car and stood behind it so that she could give the instructions.
Now, you see, you never ever stand behind a moving vehicle because you never know when it may accidentally hit you. The correct position, in this case, would have been the somewhere that wasn’t in the driver’s blindspot because it would have been less dangerous, especially since she’s pregnant.
(P.S. Just ask anyone who’s been in NS on the safety SOP)
So she gave her sister the “go” sign to reverse, but instead of stepping on the brake pedal, she stepped on the accelerator pedal.
Umm… How did she pass her driving test in the first place?
Obviously, the car reversed at full speed and hit the pregnant woman with a loud bang, causing her to fall to the ground. She screamed in pain and passersby around the area quickly rushed to her aid.
Aftermath
She laid in the middle of the road and cried as she continuously bled. Her sister could only watch from afar and cry for help.
Everyone initially thought that the pregnant woman was crying so much because she was about to go into labour since her amniotic fluid breaking, but they later realised that this wasn’t the case and immediately called for an ambulance.
Unfortunately, she was unconscious by the time the paramedics arrived and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her baby didn’t make it either.
According to the police, the cause of the accident is still not known and they are currently investigating the situation. A few passers-by claimed that the sister was on the phone when she was reversing, causing her not to pay attention to her pregnant sister standing behind her car.
Of course, this is just a speculation and we hope that their family gets by during this trying time.
So remember, if you’re assisting someone in reversing their car, make sure you stand somewhere that is easily noticeable by the driver and not stand in their blindspot. You should not stand behind their car either because it is possible for them to knock you down by accident.
But in the first place…someone who needs help to reverse park shouldn’t be on the road at all.
