Once more, COVID-19 has proven its virality and transmissibility by showing that not even the higher echelons of society are spared.
On the morning of 10 February, The Clarence House announced on Twitter that Prince Charles, aged 73, has tested positive COVID-19 for the second time.
The first time he contracted the virus was in March 2020.
Interruptions in His Schedule
While the English monarchy might just be a figurehead, the Prince of Wales and heir to the throne still has public duties to attend to.
Due to his positive COVID-19 result, Prince Charles will be in self-isolation instead of attending events in Winchester and will have to reschedule his visit.
According to the BBC, he was supposed to unveil the statue of Licoricia of Winchester with your young son Asher on 10 February.
And no, we’re not talking about the candy, but a renowned Jewish woman from 13th Century England, who built her reputation and success in business and connections to powerful figures.

Brief History of Licoricia of Winchester
The story of Licoricia might sound to be one of immense success from the previous line, but her life had ended in tragedy when she was murdered in her house and home, 13 years before King Edward the First expelled all the Jewish from England.
The significance of erecting a life-size bronze statue of Licorica and her son in Jewry Street, an ancient city where she spent most of her life, is meant “to act as an inspiration to women of today and to also promote tolerance and understanding in our society”.
The sculpting and eventual unveiling of her statute had been the culmination of a five-year-long campaign, in honour of a woman who has made significant contributions to the Empire in terms of financial expertise, but has been forgotten by many in present society.
On the plinth of the statue are the engraved words from Leviticus: “Love thy neighbour as thyself”, in both English and Hebrew.

Apologising for His Absence
On behalf of Prince Charles, the Clarence House apologises for his absence at the monumental unveiling ceremony, and that they are deeply disappointed for being unable to attend.
This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating.
HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible.

BBC also reported that Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, had met with other people at the reception in the British Museum the day prior (9 Feb).
After recovering from his second run-in with COVID-19, Prince Charles promises to reschedule his visit as soon as he is able.
