Growing up in an Asian society within Singapore means that you may have experienced some “tough love” growing up.
A related point to that is having emotionally distant parents who do not know how to express that they love you, apart from cutting you some fruits.
These parents should take a leaf from actor-host Mr Allan Wu’s book.

Mr Wu is not abashed at boasting about how his daughter makes him proud.
Here’s what he posted about her basketball skills.
Allan Wu Is a Proud Dad Boasting About His Daughter’s Basketball Talent
In an Instagram post made earlier this week, Mr Wu boasts about his daughter’s sporting talent. The video clip shows two teams of female basketballers playing an intense basketball game.

One team was clad in bright yellow jerseys, while the other team was clad in black jerseys.
The star of the video (in Mr Wu’s eyes as well, no doubt) was Mr Wu’s daughter, Ms Sage Wu. Ms Wu is currently 18 years old.
As part of the team wearing black, Ms Wu is seen flaunting her basketball skills, making us think she could go pro if she wanted to. Her jersey sports the number “2”.
In the video, she can be seen scoring multiple hoops with ease, agilely dodging her opponents to score goal after goal.

It seems like she not only has brains (having recently been accepted to the prestigious Stanford University) but also brawns.
With each goal, Mr Wu can be heard cheering his precious daughter on in the background. His tagline seems to be “Nice, Sage!” as he continuously encourages her with each successful shot.
Indeed, Mr Wu acknowledges his zealous love for supporting his children. In the caption, Mr Wu calls himself “THAT loud and overzealous dad at his children’s sporting events”.
This behaviour is not new for Mr Wu, who shares that he’s been giving public love and support for his children since the “pre-pandemic days”.
He even includes the hashtag “#ProudPapa” to top off his pride for his daughter.

Allan Wu Encourages Showing Your Kids What They Can Achieve
While some Asian parents may shy away from celebrating their children in such a loud and boisterous manner, it may do well to emulate Mr Wu’s behaviour.
You never know what a simple show of support can do for your child.
In fact, Mr Wu directly acknowledges this in his post. His caption continues by explaining that when “kids begin to believe what they can achieve with hard work and discipline”, some “special” occurs.
We definitely think that cheering your kid on in front of so many gives one the confidence to continue doing better as they are convinced that they are invincible.
Having a supportive family may very well be the secret of Sage’s multiple successful shots, including some impressive three-pointer shots.
