Items in your Shopee cart taking a little longer than usual to arrive?

Don’t worry – it wasn’t because of the containers which fell into the sea on Thursday.

Here’s what happened.

15 Empty Containers Fell Into The Water

On Thursday, approximately 15 empty containers at Keppel Terminal fell into the sea.

The reason this happened will blow you away, quite literally.

The containers fell into the water as a result of the strong winds caused by a squall on Thursday, according to a PSA Corp spokesman.

The containers are still in the process of being recovered from the waters at Keppel Terminal – you could still sneak a peek of the containers floating outside the terminal if you’re fast enough.

It seems to be quite the spectacle.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the empty containers falling from the wharf.

Those who recently checked out their Black Friday shopping carts, fret not, you aren’t affected.

The port and its operations were not disrupted by this incident. You can expect to receive that dress you definitely didn’t need, some time soon.

Pictures Circulating on Social Media

With an incident like this, it’s almost too predictable that it has become social media fodder, or perhaps even the subject of another chain message your relatives are sending in your family group chat.

“Beware of floating containers in the waters outside Keppel Terminal! It could spread a new strain of COVID-19 through the sea. Send this message to 10 other family members if you care for your loved ones!”

It really is all too predictable.

Pictures of the floating containers circulated on social media platforms on Friday morning.

The 15 empty containers had fell around 3pm on Thursday, said the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in a statement on Friday.

In response, the MPA deployed two patrol crafts to keep a tab on the affected area, as well as to cordon it off.

This is to facilitate recovery work being carried out by the PSA Corporation.
