About a week ago, a shocking news hit the headlines: there had been a murder case in Punggol Field, and the murderer was still at large.
The victim is a 38-year-old man who had gone out for a run after feeling cooped up at home.
He had left his house at around 10pm, and was found injured at a bus stop along Punggol Fields at about 11pm.
The man allegedly worked in a sportswear company, and lived with his wife and a dog. He lived just two streets across from where he was found, and was cremated on 12 May 2020 afternoon at Mandai crematorium.
That has sparked a manhunt for the suspect, in which even members of the Gurkha were activated.
Today, it’s reported that the suspect has been arrested.

The police is now working with the prosecution to seek a court order for the suspect to be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric evaluation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation & Intelligence) and concurrent director CID Florence Chua, said, “The solving of this case also reaffirms the close partnership between the police and the community, and the important role that the public plays in fighting crime.
“The police would like to thank members of the public for providing valuable information which aided investigations and contributed to the arrest.”
A Day of Violence Last Sunday
It wasn’t the only violent incident last Sunday.
At about 3:30am that day, two groups of youths exchanged blows in a Chinatown condo, with one group attacking the other with parangs.
Two men had also assaulted a 30-year-old man along Bishan St 12 at about 5:40am, leaving him with cuts on his head and a fractured hand.
Over in Jurong West in the evening, a 21-year-old attacked a 26-year-old man with a “dangerous weapon”, leaving a pond of blood beside Blk 452.
In all the cases, all suspects have been arrested except for one in the Chinatown condo.
