Fire Broke Out in a Punggol East HDB Block That Led to an Evacuation of 100 People

If you’ve not bought any fire insurance for your house, you must be a rich fellow like these owners who bought a million-dollar HDB in Clementi with cash. And if you have (which you should have if you’ve taken a loan for your flat), then you can take a look at how a fire can damage your property without breaking a sweat:

That’s the aftermath of a fire in an HDB flat in Punggol East.

Fire Broke Out in a Punggol East HDB Block That Led to an Evacuation of 100 People

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force, a fire broke out at about 12:25pm today (21 July 2020) at Block 167C along Punggol East.

When the officers arrived at the eighth floor, they had to wear breathing apparatus sets and conduct forced entry into the unit, which means there’s probably no one at home.

The fire “involved the contents of the unit and was extinguished with one water jet,” and it’s not revealed what the “contents” are as SCDF is still investigating the cause of the fire.

Here’s the view from another angle that shows how massive the fire was:

100 people had to be evacuated from the block.

And by now, you’re wondering: Wait a moment. This is Punggol East, and Punggol East SMC was absorbed into Sengkang GRC. Does that mean Oppa Jamus Lim would be there to check out the block?

Well, no. That block is under Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC instead, so you’d see people in white checking out the block instead.
