Snakes are pretty… scary.
Especially pythons. 2m long pythons.
So just picture this: you’re walking towards your block when you see this giant ass python in a drain, looking at you like how that clown from IT does.
If it were me, I would be out of there faster than you can rap Eminem’s “Rap God”.
But some evidently have balls of steel.
Like these two brave men.
On 2 Nov 2017, at around 10pm, two men were spotted struggling with a python at Block 484C in Choa Chu Kang.
What exactly happened?
According to Stomper Hayu, it was an hour-long struggle.
“The snake was hiding in the drain. It only came out after one of the two men sprayed some kind of liquid into the drain.”
When she saw the snake, she was shocked by its sheer size. “It was huge! Like about 2 meters long at least.”
“They tried to put the snake in the bag initially but they failed. The head of the snake was biting on the sack and would not let go.”
She then added: “I think the guy wearing bermudas is actually a passer-by who was helping to hold the sack.”
“In fact, the guy is that same guy who got bitten by the snake.”
They were untrained
What makes the act even more extraordinary is that the men are supposedly untrained.
Kalai Vanan Balakrishnan, Deputy Chief Executive of Animal Concerns Research and Society (ACRES), verified that speculation.
“We have a uniform and don’t rescue in shorts,” said Kalai who also described the men handling the snake as “completely untrained”.
Correct way of handling it
While the men evidently did their best, it wasn’t the best method to go around ensnaring a huge python.
ACRES had this to advise:
“Snakes like pythons are shy animals who will move away unless provoked. If you see a python, call us at 97837782. Keep a distance and monitor the snake’s movement.”
Well guess what, ACRES? If I see one I’m just going to call the number, mumble some humble-jumble and get my ass out of there.
I’ve seen enough of Anaconda to know what’s happening next.
And to anyone out there: handling python might seem cool, but please leave it to the experts.
It’s not a Chihuahua for goodness’ sake!
