Sometimes, thoughtful gestures from your kids may remind parents that it’s the little things in life that really matter.
On Monday (17 Jan), beauty and lifestyle influencer Bong QiuQiu recounted her lovely recent encounter with her six-year-old daughter on Facebook. She recently started school as a Primary 1 student.
Bong shared how her daughter, Meredith Tan, surprised her with “chicken skin” from her school canteen. It was bought using her own pocket money.
To make it clear, it wasn’t exactly “chicken skin”, but rather a packet of popcorn chicken.
According to Bong, Meredith has been telling her mother how awesome the “chicken skin” was. Meredith also promised that one day when she has enough money, she would buy it home for Bong and her husband Josh to try.
Last Friday (14 Jan) marked the first full week of school for Meredith. As such, she decided to honour her little promise to her mother.
Even though popcorn chicken might not be the most opulent food, it must have been extremely heartening for any parent in Bong’s shoes.
Bong also further added this is the first time Meredith had bought anything for her parents with her own money.
Taking notice that the packet of popcorn chicken was small, the young lady even reminded her mother to share it with her father and aunt who were at home.

Taste Test
After the mother-daughter pair has entered their car, Meredith decided to pop a popcorn chicken into her mouth.
Time for a taste test.
Unfortunately, it may have lost some of its crispiness, perhaps because it has been out for a while.
Nonetheless, QiuQiu assured her daughter that it was alright as she was still very happy.
To end her post, QiuQiu then included some very important life advice that we may sometimes unknowingly forget.
“Remember to count the little things you are blessed with in life.”
