13 rabbits were recently found abandoned at a void deck in Clementi.
Here’s how it happened.
13 Rabbits Abandoned
On Thursday night, a volunteer from the House Rabbit Society Singapore (HRSS) received an SOS message.
Some rabbits had been found abandoned at an HDB void deck in Clementi.
There were a total of thirteen rabbits, all with their fur stained with pee. The rabbits’ fur were all matted and infested with mites, parasites and other infections.
The adorable fur-balls were cramped into two plastic boxes, one which was covered with a small opening while the other was left completely open.
I know what you’re thinking – who in the world is heartless enough to abandon their rabbits in such a state?
The rabbits, upon discovery, appeared to be frightened and mostly remained still inside the plastic boxes.
HRSS and Bunny Wonderland’s Rescue
Fortunately, HRSS and Bunny Wonderland, rabbit welfare groups based in Singapore, initiated a swift joint response to this situation, and rushed down to the location.
By the time of their arrival, it was almost midnight.
The rabbits were quickly transferred out of the plastic boxes and into carriers.
They were taken to HRSS for the night.

These rabbits seemed to be a mix between two domestic rabbit breeds, the Jersey Wooly and the Angora.
On Friday morning, HRSS had one Dr Cathy, presumably HRSS’s go-to vet, take a look at the rabbits.
It was revealed that among the rabbits, there were seven males and six females.
The males will be taken in by Bunny Wonderland while the females will be taken care of by HRSS.
All 13 rabbits displayed medical issues and it was clear that whoever the previous owner was, there was a lack of proper care given to these poor rabbits.
Four of the female rabbits remain with the clinic for a sterilisation procedure.
Appeals for Donors
This unfortunate case has been reported by HRSS to the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), to which AVS has already contacted HRSS again for more information regarding this incident.
HRSS is currently appealing for donors to support itself and Bunny Wonderland in caring for these 13 abandoned rabbits.
Details on how to donate to the two welfare groups can be found in HRSS’s Facebook post posted on Thursday.
The two welfare groups are also appealing to members of the public to foster these rabbits.
Most netizens in the comment sections of the Facebook posts praised the welfare groups for the work they are doing, and also expressed their abhorrence in relation to the previous owner’s actions.
