Putin Said Sanctions by Nations Are Like a ‘Declaration of War’

Over the past ten days, a lot of things has happened on the Eastern Europe-Northern Asia front.

Russia invaded Ukraine in a bid to “demilitarise and denazify” the country.

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky refused to flee the country, and instead, asked for more aid in the war.

And Russians rushed to IKEA after the giant furniture store says it’ll suspend operations in the country.

The country is also facing international sanctions from other countries, including Singapore. And how does Russian Vladimir Putin view these sanctions?

Putin Said Sanctions by Nations Are Like a ‘Declaration of War’

While meeting with female flight attendants near Moscow, Putin said that the sanctions imposed upon his nation by western countries are like “a declaration of war”.

The recent sanctions have caused great economic consequences for his nation.

But thankfully, he added, it hadn’t come to that.

However, should there be an attempt to establish a no-fly zone above Ukraine, he warns, that would be seen as a participation in armed conflict.

Those responsible would be seen as armed combatants.

Ukraine President Condemned NATO For Ruling Out A No-Fly Zone

NATO was basically the powder keg that started the entire war. Russia sent the US a list of its demands for defusing the Russo-Ukraine crisis after alarm bells were rung over Russia’s gathering of troops along the border, including a promise that Ukraine will not join NATO.

The demands were refused and the war, as we now know it, started.

So what are they going to do? Nothing.

Ukraine wanted NATO to help establish a no-fly zone in its airspace so that it can gain some reprieve from Russian bombs, but western leaders refused, afraid that it’ll lead to an escalation in the conflict.

In short, they refused to guarantee that Ukraine will not join NATO but aren’t going to help Ukraine since it’s not a member of NATO.

No Martial Law For Russia

Currently, Putin has no intentions to establish martial law in Russia.

This step would only happen in “instances of external aggression, in defined areas of military activity.”

That isn’t the situation now, and he hopes there wouldn’t be.

Previously, Putin also went on TV to announce that the Ukraine Advance was going according to plan.

He also signalled that he would not stop hostilities despite having claimed to care for the lives of his people.
