But in Singapore, there’s one costume that you might want to stay away from.
The Commando-Jungle-MP-Warfare-MP Special Forces Costume
So there you have a SAF Major having his dinner at a coffee shop. Looks pretty normal in Singapore, right?
Except, if you were to take a closer look, you’d notice something interesting. This dude is well-decorated.
His badge denotes him as an officer from the Military Police
The badge on the collar says that he’s a commando. Along with two airborne badges on the right chest.
And on his left, the jungle confidence badge.
Now add in the Special Forces badge and a major tab.
And you’re looking at a career soldier who can bring down a battalion by himself, or a major fraud who’s a Major.
Most Netizens Seemed To Be Leaning Towards The Latter
Some were just confused at the various specialities of the soldier.
While others were wondering why a military police officer need to jump from the sky. Given how scary they already are.
Although some decided to give him the benefit of doubt, saying that he could’ve been someone who was downgraded or disciplined.
Of course, there is always a possibility that he used to be a commando who has gone through all the courses, and is now being posted to the MP department.
Mindef Starts Investigating The Super-Soldier
Remember when I said this uniform is something to be avoided? Yeah.
I mean we were always tempted to get the Gold IPPT badge at the emart and walk around shopping malls just to show off our achievements, even though we can’t even pass the test.
While this guy’s comment kind of makes sense…
…given how powerful the internet is today, even a harmless past time like pretending to be a soldier in Final Fantasy VII can elevate into a criminal case.
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) said on 2 Sep that they are aware of the incident and are investigating the incident.
They would like to remind the public that impersonating SAF personnel is a serious offence. If need be, offenders can be prosecuted.
And it seems like it wasn’t a one-time thing for our man in Major uniform. He was seen a few times around Hougang and Punggol.

Not The First Time Someone Did Something Like That
Commandoes in the SAF are a breed apart from the other vocations. They’re known to be more garang, fitter and generally all-around sexier.
Which is why we’re definitely not surprised to know that this isn’t the first guy to make it to internet news.
Back in 2015, another man was dressed in No. 3 uniform and walking around the National Day Parade (NDP) area.
The man was believed to have placed his badges wrongly. He had a Diver, Rigger and Senior Parachutist badge on his uniform.
