If someone asked you to list down all the TV shows you know that feature cops or detectives, your thumbs would probably fall off.
There’s something about the life of a police officer or detective that always seems to captivate viewers, presumably because it deals with life and death.
But these men and women in blue aren’t the only ones risking their lives every day to save others.
Firefighters, rescuers, and paramedics all play a vital role in keeping our residents safe and getting them the treatment they need should they have a medical emergency.
We’ve had shows like Crimewatch, C.L.I.F. and Heartlanders here, but soon, Singapore will have a drama focused on the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Mediacorp Coming Out with a SCDF Channel 8 Drama That Stars Romeo Tan
Mediacorp will be releasing a new drama television series that’ll certainly set viewers’ hearts ablaze.
The show will focus on the SCDF and their Life Saving Force – the men and women who help protect and save lives and property here in Singapore.
The drama series, which will feature a multiracial cast, is set to air next year.
“Stay tuned for the adrenaline pumping actions, Ops-Tech prowess, and camaraderie on screen,” the SCDF said in a Facebook post.
It also shared several behind-the-scenes pictures in its post, which got fans all excited after they spotted a familiar face:
Based on the pictures, it appears that they’ve shot some scenes at Marina Bay Fire Station.
Made Television Debut in Heartlanders
For those who don’t know, Romeo Tan rose to fame after finishing in fourth place on the tenth season of the television series Star Search in 2010.
He made his television debut on the fourth season of Heartlanders in 2005.
The 36-year-old is currently starring in the Medicorp Drama Soul Old Yet So Young, where he plays a 76-year-old man who one day mysteriously wakes up as his 25-year-old self.
Netizens’ Reaction
Some fans are really excited about the new SCDF drama, saying it offers something different to the shows currently on TV.
Others lauded the creators’ decision to utilise a multiracial cast in the show, as it reflects the makeup of the force.
One netizen pointed out that the show should have used real SCDF personnel as they’re the “real heroes”, to which SCDF basically said well yeah, we did that too.
According to the SCDF, the series will hit our screens next March.
