Huawei users, you’ve probably been through some tough times recently seeing all the latest news that only seems to get worse for Huawei’s future.
And you wonder if you should dump your mobile phone and get a Samsung instead.
After Huawei got banned from Google, Windows and various chipmakers, the brand now has to find a way to stand on their own two feet for they are unable to use the Android OS in its devices any longer.
Everyone’s either used to Apple iOS or the Android OS these days, and a new OS developed by Huawei has its risks.
But there might be a saving grace on the way soon. Just like how Noah’s Ark managed to save all the animal species in the world, the brand new Ark OS might just save Huawei.
Huawei’s Ark
As previously revealed, Huawei’s new OS was reportedly going to be called Ark, for they had registered the names HUAWEI ARK OS, HUAWEI ARK, ARK, and ARK OS with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) on 24 May.
It’s a much better-sounding name than Hong Meng, which it was previously rumoured to be called when the news of Google banning Huawei first broke out.
It also happens to sound like the name of a random ah beng.
Ark is rumoured to be 60% faster than Android, can be used for all devices including laptops and cars.
It’s also probably using AppGallery (their internal app store) and Aptoide, a third-party open-source app store that runs Android apps, too.
This means that it won’t be all too different from the Android OS, so if you’re very used to the apps and interface of Android, you won’t get whiplash by switching to Ark on your Huawei device.
Yep, it’s similar right down to the interface.
Ark Looks Like Android
In a series of leaked screenshots, it shows the Ark OS’ inbuilt app store, where the Weather app is being searched for and installed into the device.
There’s also a centre for you to handle your application settings.
It looks simple and minimalistic enough that it could be a cross between Android and Apple interfaces as well, but it kind of looks too simple that it looks empty.
But it may just be the trial version as of now, for nothing’s been fully confirmed yet.
So, When Is It Coming Out?
Previously, everyone was excited that the new OS was announced to be launching in June, which is this month already, but that turned out to be an “internal confusion”.
It’s speculated that Ark OS will be released between now until fall 2020, but yet again, nothing’s been confirmed yet, so we’ll just have to wait.
Maybe your phone contract will be up even before Ark OS is released, so if you’re currently a Huawei user, you still have the chance to jump ship.
