Second Kinderland Teacher, Who’s Accused of Abuse in Sunshine Place Outlet, Arrested

On Tuesday, the police arrested a second preschool teacher from Kinderland Preschool, this time at the Sunshine Place outlet, following the arrest of another teacher from the Woodlands Mart outlet.

The arrest came after a video depicting the second teacher allegedly abusing a child went viral, causing widespread anger online.

Details of the Arrest

The arrested individual is a 48-year-old female teacher from Choa Chu Kang. She was taken into custody after a video circulated online showing her allegedly hitting a young boy.

Consequently, she is being investigated for voluntarily causing hurt to a person under 14 years of age.

However, there has been no confirmation as to whether the incident occurred at the Kinderland Preschool at Sunshine Place, despite it being mentioned in the original video.

This video has since been deleted.

Public Condemnation and Response from Kinderland

Chua Chu Kang GRC MP Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim publicly condemned the actions of the teacher.

In an interview with Straits Times, he said that some parents had contacted him personally, expressing their concerns about the safety of their children, even though they were unsure if their children were affected or involved.

Kinderland, in a press statement, revealed that the Principal of the center had apologized to the parents of the affected boy and filed a report with the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA). Additionally, the accused teacher has been suspended.

The Video in Sunshine Place, Choa Chu Kang

The second incident came to light when a Facebook user uploaded a 19-second video showing a woman in a blue top and striped pants, surrounded by several children, with her feet on a chair between a child.

A boy, holding a blue water bottle, is seen in the video.

The woman forcefully opened the bottle cap and yelled “drink” in Mandarin at the boy.

As the boy put his mouth around the straw, the woman raised her hands and began patting his head, as if to dismiss him.

The boy then slowly walked away.
