3 Cars Collided with Each Other At Sembawang; Even the Traffic Light Pole was Knocked Down

As the saying goes: the road is like a tiger’s mouth.

The amount of news on road accidents coming out daily reminds us daily that even the most unexpected can happen.

Car Accident Involving 3 Cars, Knocking Down Traffic Light 

On Sunday (11 July), an accident occurred along the junction of Sembawang Road and Canberra Road, at around 4.32pm.

The accident involved three cars, including a blue Toyota, a white Toyota SUV, and a grey-black Hyundai.

Speaking to Lianhe Zaobao, a spokesperson for the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said that the police had received reports of three cars being involved in a car accident at the above time and place.

Among the three cars, one car had been knocked over, with the family of three in the car being rushed to the hospital for treatment. A traffic light pole had also been knocked down, and authorities had allegedly blocked off three lanes to conduct investigations.

According to the SPF spokesperson, the driver and two passengers, aged between 4 years old to 33 years old, had been sent to the hospital with clear consciousness. The drivers of the other two cars had allegedly refused to be sent to the hospital.

According to Lianhe Zaobao’s understanding, the car that had been flipped was the blue Toyota. The 33-year-old driver and two other passengers, a 31-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy, have all been sent to the hospital for treatment. They are believed to be a family.

A spokesperson from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has revealed that one victim had been sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital after the accident, while the other two had been sent to Singapore National University Hospital (NUH).

Investigations are currently ongoing.

Two Other Major Accidents in the Past Few Days

On Saturday (10 July), an accident involving a ComfortDelGro taxi and a sedan occurred at the junction of Selegie Road and Rochor Canal Road towards Bukit Timah Road

The accident took place around 2.50am, when the SCDF were alerted to the accident due to a call for assistance.

This accident saw the SCDF having to pry open the taxi’s roof to rescue two female passengers who had been trapped in the back seat of the taxi after the vehicle had been flipped onto its side.

According to the SCDF, the two passengers were then taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital with traumatic injuries. The taxi driver and the driver of the sedan had both been conscious and outside their vehicles when the SCDF arrived.

In another accident on Sunday which most of us would have heard about, two buses collided with each other at Bukit Batok Bus Interchange, flipping one bus on its side.
