Despite Several Eateries Closing, Shake Shack is Opening a New Outlet in Orchard Road Soon

Try opening a business last year, and you’ll be met with a mix of responses from encouragement to warnings of the risks.

Try opening one now, and people will question if you’re a time traveller who came from better times.

But what if. What if? We’re talking about the F&B business industry that was surveyed to have 42% of restaurants not making it for another month? The industry that having famed celebrities isn’t enough to carry? The industry that despite the popularity and loyal following, still won’t make it?

What if we opened a restaurant in the middle of the crisis right now?

Shake Shack Opening 3rd Outlet In Orchard Road In Third Quarter Of 2020

That’s right. Despite all the terrible things that seem to be happening to the F&B industry, it’s either not affecting Shake Shack or Shake Shack just doesn’t give a hoot enough to stop.

When COVID-19 was just near the start, Shake Shack said “no” to the coronavirus and opened their second outlet in Feb 2020 anyway.

It might have looked like a terrible decision on hindsight. F&B restaurants start closing. People start buying supermarket stuff instead.

Nope. Just a small setback for Shake Shack.

But it didn’t hold. Shake Shack earnings still went down by 12.8%. (Note: the link refers to the listed Shake Shack Inc in the US.)

Surely, that must have dampened Shake Shack’s expectations a little.

It should have.

But it is a mere flesh wound as they continued posting on social media like there was no pandemic.

And then on 4 June 2020, they announced the next outlet at Liat Towers.

And just to tell COVID-19 that nothing would hold them back…

Presumably, the word “takeaway” doesn’t exist in Shake Shack’s dictionary.

If anything, this new outlet is the very definition of “dining out”.

If COVID-19 had feelings, they would undoubtedly be afraid of the resilience shown by Shake Shack.

No matter how many times you try to kill them, they just won’t die.

They will open in the third quarter of 2020. Meaning by September 2020, they should be open.
