Cats have nine lives, Show Lo has… five?

After a wave of dating scandals that saw the Taiwanese singer get cancelled by the entire internet, the 42-year-old celebrity is back with his latest single and MV.

The single, titled “修罗”, literally translates into “repair Lo”, and is also a homonym of his English name.

And, well, the music video (MV) is… interesting, to say the least.

Before we go any further, here’s the MV if you haven’t watched it already. Watch it first so that you’ll know what I’m talking about:

In the song, Lo raps about fighting against naysayers and continuing his (successful) journey in life without a care about what others have to say about him.

In particular, the chorus, which starts with the lines “I’m big I’m bad top dog in my game / I’m big I’m bad yo already know my name” oozes with confidence.

Although, I guess I have to clarify which game he’s talking about…

Also, one prominent aspect in the MV is Lo’s repeated yet unique deaths in various scenarios, namely through the electric chair, being beheaded, hanging and being drowned.

He even attends his own funeral in the MV, where the other members in the crowd look on and laugh at his “death”.

If death’s a theme in the MV, it’s definitely incredibly subtle. Just kidding.

When interviewed about the ever-present theme of death throughout the MV, Lo replied, “How many times do people who’ve made mistakes have to die before they’re forgiven?”

Perhaps some may also say that death symbolises rebirth in this case as Lo regains his footing in the entertainment industry.

The new single appears to be a hit, at least amongst Lo’s original fanbase that has been providing him with unwavering support thus far.

The music video has chalked up over a million views within two days, and an overwhelming majority of the comments have been supportive, with many fans praising the concept and quality of the MV.

Either that, or someone has been very busy monitoring the comments.
