At this point, the Show Luo scandal is like a television drama that’s too long to summarise, so check out some of the previous articles if you had somehow avoided the outside world:

Show Luo’s mother always seemed to have a good relationship with Grace Chow, with Grace often referring to her as “mother-in-law”.
Which sure didn’t age well at all considering that Show Luo’s mother had blamed Grace for destroying Show’s career. In fact, she even went on an interview to a media outlet and claim that Grace “wanted” to destroy Show.
Except, you know, netizens had to remind her that Show Luo was the one doing the cheating.
Repeatedly and kindly… as far as internet comment goes.
This got even more out of hand when rumours spread. An anonymous informant claimed that Show contacted Grace privately to plead for mercy, asking her to stop exposing more details because his mother had fallen ill.
Show Luo Had To Respond
His post, written in simplified Chinese, clarified the rumours.
“I’m sorry, I just want to clarify, that my mother is in good health, and she’s not suffering from any major illnesses. Also, my mother definitely did not accept any interview request from the media, neither has she given any quotes (on my cheating scandal). Please do not attack my mother anymore, thank you everyone.”
And if this was true, it would have meant that Show’s mother blaming Grace was fake news.
Most netizens seem appeased by Show’s request to stop attacking his mother. The comment with the second most likes translated to “Don’t attack family members. Thank you, everyone.”
The most liked comment asked for him to just retire and disappear.
“Really. Just leave. Don’t show up anymore and quietly live your life. Don’t harm any more girls anymore. Thank you for giving us the happy times. But don’t show up on television anymore. Really.”
Of course, this doesn’t mean that the attacks on Show will stop. Several other well-liked comments include “Relax. We will only attack you” and “Attacking you is still game then.”
But Show Might Not Have Written The Post Himself…?
Grace actually previously mentioned in her breakup letter that she had helped Show with his Weibo posts before. Show is apparently unfamiliar with simplified Chinese (Weibo has more Chinese users than Taiwanese users), as he is from Taiwan, which still uses traditional Chinese.
Example:
Simplified Chinese (used in China, Singapore and Malaysia): 猫很可爱
Traditional Chinese (used in Taiwan): 貓很可愛
And several netizens noticed that his new posts were in simplified Chinese.
“I don’t think he wrote this post himself.”
“So, it turns out that you know how to write simplified Chinese too.”
Even without looking into the simplified versus traditional clue, looking into Show Luo’s apology on Weibo and Instagram would also show some differences in tone.
The Weibo apology (which is in traditional Chinese, by the way):
First of all, apologies for my private matters taking up public resources, thank you everyone for your concern.
Perhaps many people are waiting to see how I respond, but I just want to say that two people together go through happy times and ups and downs, and we were on and off many times in the nine years. What I did wrong, I will also self-examine. There are many things that can’t be said clearly in just a few words, and I won’t explain any more. Thankful for the time we’ve known each other, I also don’t regret it @ Grace Chow
And then the Instagram apology, also in traditional Chinese:
Regarding this relationship, I want to apologise to Miss @gracechowwwww
Solemn apologies. I’m sorry. I was wrong!
You have sacrificed a lot for me in these nine years, it’s my fault for not cherishing this relationship, not knowing how to cherish the person who loved me the most. My naivety and wishful thinking allowed me to cheat you multiple times and hurt you.
I have indeed committed many mistakes. I also want to apologise to all the girls I have lied to and disrespected before.
I’m sorry. I will accept all responsibility and repercussions for this.
One can tell that somehow Show had a split personality between Weibo and Instagram, being a lot more apologetic on Instagram.
Social media managers are a common job, and for a well-known star earning millions to have multiple social media managers is not unheard of.
Or maybe Show has a split personality disorder with each personality liking a different girl. Who knows?
