You probably know how spa and gym session works.
Sign a package for 30 sessions and get access to a whole list of classes or services which you can book at discounted prices.
But what if I were to tell you that you can do the same thing for flight tickets?
Well, that’s exactly what Singapore Airlines is looking to offer to people here.
Here’s what you need to know.
SIA Selling ‘Package Air Tickets’ That Works Like Spa Packages
In a press release on 25 Nov 2021, Singapore Airlines reveal a new package option for customers.
Basically, customers will be able to “lock in” discount flight ticket prices for multiple flights.
Then, within 12 to 18 months, if the customer is inclined to travel, they can book a flight ticket at the discounted price, subject to seat availability.
Of course, this means that if flight prices increase, you don’t have to pay for the increase.
The new scheme is called the Flight Pass packages.
What’s In The Package
Now, you’re wondering, that’s a good deal…but what’s included?
As it turns out, quite a bit.
Currently, the flight pass packages apply to the following countries:
- France
- Italy
- the Netherlands
- South Korea
- Spain
- and the United Kingdom
That does not mean, however, that these are the only destinations.
Just like Singapore which is always looking for more VTLs, Singapore Airlines will be adding destinations progressively to the menu.
About 6 to 120 flights are valid for this booking option, including under the vaccinated travel lanes option.
It was added that up to 30 flight pass passengers are allowed on VTL flights.
How It Works
If you remember back to pre-COVID-19 times, you’ll probably be signed up to all the airlines’ newsletters so that whenever a sale comes on, you’ll know and, hopefully, be able to do something about it.

However, if you remember the Scoot and Jetstar sales in the good old days, there are pesky limitations like “book within 24 hours”, deciding on when you want to travel, etc.
Singapore Airlines’ flight pass seems to work the same way (based on what we’ve gleaned from their site).
You keep an eye on their website and anytime you spot really good prices, you can lock it in by paying the full (discounted) amount upfront.
However, unlike the pre-COVID-19 sales, you’re not required to decide when you want to travel immediately; you’ll just need to book the flight within a 12- to 18-month period (depending on the flight pass condition).
The only thing you’re subjected to is, of course, seat availability.
Can Share Among Friends & Families
According to Singapore Airlines’ website, you can gain up to 20% savings, something really important in today’s expensive air travel.
Plus, they have different tiers for flight passes too and you don’t have to use it alone; you can share the pass with friends, families and even colleagues.
There are, of course, some limits:
- If you’re using the pass alone, you can lock in fares for six flights
- For two persons using the pass, or above, each passenger must have four flights
