Tourism Boards in S’pore & HK Having Promotions & Gifts to Welcome Tourists

You’re probably aware of Singapore’s proposed air travel bubble with Hong Kong by now.

Heck, you probably already have tickets, considering how long it’s been since you last had a vacation.

For those who assumed that travel wouldn’t be possible until 2035 and stopped checking the news, the authorities announced recently that it will start an air travel bubble with Hong Kong on 22 Nov.

This travel bubble will allow all forms of travel and will have daily flights.

Even though prices soared, it was no surprise that tickets to Hong Kong for the first week nearly sold out.

In preparation of the onslaught of tourists, both countries are putting together a little something for their visitors.

Tourism Boards in S’pore & HK Having Promotions & Gifts to Welcome Tourists

Travellers flying between Singapore and Hong Kong under the new travel bubble arrangement will be welcomed with promotions and gifts, as part of a collaboration between the two cities’ tourism boards.

According to TODAYonline, this collaboration, announced on Wednesday (11 Nov), is the first of its kind between the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).

As part of the partnership, gifts, such as a limited-edition reusable mask designed by local brand Onlewo, will be given to passengers while stocks last.

Travellers onboard flights between the two countries will also be offered a special inflight menu curated by Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific featuring popular dishes from both countries.

STB and HKTB will carry out joint promotional activities such as coordinated social media content as well.

In addition, visitors under the new travel bubble arrangement will be offered a host of attractive deals and experiences which can be found on STB’s and HKTB’s website.

This includes hotel stays, dinner packages, and tours.

Safety Measures

We’re still in the midst of a pandemic, however, and there is a long list of safeguards in place.

While travellers between the two countries won’t need to undergo quarantine when they land, they are required to take a polymerase chain reaction Covid-19 test 72 hours before their departure.

They must, of course, test negative for the virus.

Moreover, visitors from Hong Kong who arrive in Singapore must download and use the TraceTogether app.

Pricey Holiday

As previously mentioned, this vacation will not be cheap.

Remember how I said air tickets nearly sold out for the first week? This was despite ticket prices skyrocketing to over $1,000.

According to CNA, return fares for air tickets between Singapore and Hong Kong normally range between $314 and $533.

However, ever since the travel bubble was announced, prices have ranged between $800 to $1,000.

You will also have to take a test in Hong Kong when you arrive, which costs HK$499 ($86).

So, a holiday abroad is finally available, yes, but it might just rip your wallet and purses to shreds.

But after 11 months of confinement and solitude, many Singaporeans seem to think it’s worth it.
