Childcare centre may be literal blessings for overworked parents, but the fact remains that they’re not entirely without risk.
They are, after all, not 100 per cent free of ill intent.
Though your child may be the most precious entity to you, the notion may not be shared by some.

S’porean Principal of Childcare Centre in M’sia Arrested for Abusing Child & Overstaying
Indeed, for one parent across the causeway, his son’s childcare experience at Maikidz Care centre in Selangor was nothing but a nightmare.
For the record, the centre specialises in children with special needs.
On 3 October 2021, the indignant parent posted on social media platform Facebook, alleging that his six-year-old son had been abused by the principal of the childcare centre.
Apparently, his son, who was autistic, would return home at times with bruises on his face and body.
Yet, it wasn’t until 1 October 2021 that the parent determined the true cause of the injuries. Some back marks couldn’t possibly be self-inflicted, he reasoned.
Apart from photos of the child’s injuries, the social media post also included a 47-second security camera footage clip of the purported incident.
In the video, a woman could be seen attempting to feed a boy.
When he refuses, she raises her palm, and the boy uses both hands to shield his face.

He subsequently dashes off, but the woman grabs him and lifts him into the air.
She then slams him into the chair and forcibly pushes it forward.
Meanwhile, a woman could be seen sweeping the immediate area with all the finesse of a peaceful bystander.
The post swiftly went viral, and eventually garnered the attention of Malaysia’s Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Rina Mohd Harun.
Disciplinary Actions
Ms Sharifah Mazlan, a 51-year-old Singaporean, was subsequently arrested on 3 October 2021 in Ampang Jaya, Malaysia.

The case has since been transferred to the prosecution, and Ms Sharifah has reportedly been charged with the neglection of a child as well as overstaying.
Apparently, Ms Sharifah’s social visit pass had expired.
The centre also had an expired license, and only had four employees (including Ms Sharifah) despite claiming to have eight.
For neglecting a child in Malaysia, Ms Sharifah could face an imprisonment term of up to 20 years and a fine. For overstaying in Malaysia, one could face an imprisonment term of up to five years, a fine of up to RM10,000 (S$3,250) and up to six strokes of the cane.
