To many, a terrifically large property area must surely come across as the ultimate dream.
An entire chunk of land dedicated to your personal homestead… what else could you possibly want in life?
And yet, the fact remains that like everything else, moderation is still key. Though size may seem glorious, it may also prove a tad bit terrifying…
As this singer would surely attest to.
Singer Called The Cops After He Got Lost in His Own Home ‘Coz It’s too Big
According to AsiaOne, 26-year-old singer Kane Brown had to be rescued by the police after… erm…
Getting lost on his own property.
Apparently, the singer’s efforts to explore his 30-acre home with friends soon turned into an absolute disaster, culminating in a situation that’s filled with tropes from a B-Grade horror movie.
According to the singer, what was meant to be a quick look around the new property soon turned into a long 3 hour-long walkathon.
“Someone help! I’m lost…” he wrote in a Facebook post. “ALL JOKES ASIDE. The real story is I moved into a new house. I own 30 acres of 3000 around me.”
“I told my wife I wanted to go check out the property and I’ll be (gone) 30 minutes. I went with my friend and his girl. I was in shorts and a T-shirt. 30 minutes turned into three hours, it started raining, turned dark and dropped to 40 degrees.”
And to make things worse, they did not expect such a situation to happen, and as such, did not make the necessary preparations.
Also, GPS isn’t as omnipotent as some would think.
“I left my phone at the back of my truck, my friend’s was at 7 per cent. We used GPS to try and get back but it kept taking us to all these cliffs that you can’t drive a 4-wheeler down and I wasn’t about to leave them.
To salvage the mess they’ve gotten in, Kane said he had no choice but to call in a friend for help.
However, that just added one more survivor to the unofficial L4D3 title.
“So I called my last resort – Ryan Upchurch who lives in the area. He finds me with his buddy and now 3 turned into 5 of us lost. (sic)”
Getting Shot At
Yet incredibly, the story hasn’t even reached its most ‘exciting’ part yet.
According to the country star, there were four other friends out and about in the same area…
And they were apparently being shot at.
At this point, I can’t help but wonder whether it was intended to be a Hunger Games set-up.
Kane then added that one of the group was an asthma sufferer, and was beginning to “freak out”. Thus, they decided to call the police to rescue them.
Alas, it nearly resulted in a GTA-esque shootout when the cops arrived, as the men in uniform thought that they were being shot at by their help-callers.
“The cops arrived and heard the gunshots and thought we were shooting at them. We yelled at them and told them we were not armed and made it out. That’s the story but I love the ‘getting lost in my backyard’ better. (sic)”
In total, the group was believed to have been lost for seven whole hours.
And from the sound of it, it was no mere picnic in the woods.
“We got lost for seven hours. We have 30 acres, and it’s all woods. And we made our own trail.
“And it started raining, and it started getting dark, and we started running out of gas, and we couldn’t find our trail back. We live by all these cliffs, so everywhere we tried to go and we thought we were getting somewhere, we’d run into a drop-off.
“So we ran into a drop-off, so we ended up having to call the cops, and walking down.”
Well, at least it ended well, considering how the set-up is reminiscent of a B-grade horror movie and we all know how B-grade horror movies turn out.
Anyways, here’s hoping that the singer will never get lost in his own property again.
Or at the very least, he should have a spec to guide him down the roads.
