Man Slammed His Head on Noticeboard and Stool at Bus Stop; Slapped Himself & Female Partner in Front of 2 Police Officers

Your reaction seeing the headline was probably: that’s a lot of slapping.

The story is sure to slap. Well, read on then to find out.

Man Slammed His Head on Noticeboard and Stool at Bus Stop; Slapped Himself & Female Partner in Front of 2 Police Officers

The incident filled with slapping began when a man clad in a black shirt lost his temper in front of a white-shirted woman, as Zaobao reports. The man hysterically yelled, claiming it was the woman who had hurt him rather than otherwise, and accusing her of physical violence.

This is some serious drama.

He grew increasingly agitated as the woman silently watched on, going as far as slapping himself several times and slamming his head on the noticeboard and the benches of the bus stop he was at.

As the police officers on duty (yes, the police became involved) urged him to calm down, the man not only failed to listen but also resisted the police’s efforts to restrain him.

His rage seemed only to grow stronger as time went on, eventually culminating in a hard slap in the face to his female partner. In front of the police officers.

Ouch.

Unsurprisingly, he was tackled and brought into police custody, under the charges of voluntarily causing hurt and for causing a public nuisance.

Even under arrest, the man remained defiant, taunting the officers in Mandarin that they needed to learn from him “how to be a police officer”. He also challenged them that they don’t “know who [his] mother is”.

You know, as if his mother’s identity could help the situation at that point.

Anyway, videos of the incident became viral on the internet, like this one below:

Public Freakouts Galore

Bystanders seem to have a penchant to relish these very public displays of anger, perhaps heaving a sigh of Schadenfreude (i.e. pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune) at their non-involvement in the often… terrifying situation.

There is, in fact, an entire community of Internet users gathering to share videos of such incidents, in the form of the Subreddit r/PublicFreakout. And plenty of them involve Singapore.

On 15 April 2020, Reddit user u/lupcheong posted a video filmed near a low-rise HDB apartment block, with the caption “is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?”

Well, it very much is, considering what the video involves: at the beginning, one item of furniture after another was dramatically thrown down from the third floor, plunging into an overhead shelter before hitting the ground.

A middle-aged man was filmed despondently looking out from the balcony. One comment under the post suggested he was later arrested for public endangerment, while others speculated it was an eviction done with an ample dose of violence and heartlessness.

It was the Circuit Breaker period, come on…

In another post on 29 December 2019, u/ErgoNonSim documented a Chinese man losing his temper at a woman in a hijab for being slow with the ATM.

He could have made a polite request to use the ATM first or, honestly, just patiently waited in line like any decent person would. Instead, he chose the worst option possible and decided to go the racist route, shouting at a very public volume nonsense like “you come to Singapore, you behave”.

Well, there was only one person not behaving, and it wasn’t the innocent woman just trying to withdraw her cash.
