A wise man once told me this: “It’s only during National Day that suddenly everyone, including your pet cat Leon, becomes patriotic.”
I tell him, “It’s only during National Day that I wear red and white, and hear the national anthem not at 6:00 a.m. but at night.”
And I’m pretty sure in many F&B establishments all over Singapore, people were telling each other this: “It’s only during National Day that we can mess with our food and not get blasted.”

Like, putting durian in a curry puff or ice-cream. Or turning har cheong gai into a burger. Or even more amazing: laska fries.
But nothing, absolutely nothing, comes close to this.
Putting chilli on a plate of frozen fruits.
Oh, no? That hasn’t happened? Okay, it will soon once Goody Food is established.
In the meantime, chilli is seriously put on something else – something that will shock you so much, it’ll bait you to read on.
Chilli on a Doughnut
Yeah.
Even more shocking than chilli on a plate of fruits, right? Or chilli on frozen yogurt?

Krispy Kreme, the US-based doughnut giant with 10 outlets in Singapore, is doing just that because #NationalDay.
There would be two versions: the caramel chilli doughnut and the white chocolate chilli doughnut. These doughnuts—wait a moment.
Wait a damn moment.
Chilli + Chocolate?

According to Krispy Kreme, “the chilli themed doughnuts features Caramel Chili Doughnuts topped with Caramel and White Chocolate Chili Doughnuts covered with white chocolate. Chili flakes are sprinkled on both doughnuts that’ll set your taste buds on fire.”
Guys, now I think durian curry puff is just meh.

Each doughnut is at $2.95, which is pretty reasonable (though I can’t vouch for the price).
The doughnuts would be available in all outlets, but I’ll suggest getting them early lest they get out of stock fast, just like their Nutella dougnuts back then.
This is a list of their stores:

Let’s wait and see.
