Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you would have known that Singapore just has its first female president.
And unless you’ve not paid your Internet bills and therefore live in solitary for the last few weeks, you’ll know that currently, our president lives in an HDB block.
Or to be more specific, Yishun.
So, people are curious on whether she will continue to live in an HDB block after becoming Singapore’s president, considering the security issues.
According to The Straits Times, Madam Halimah Yacob has said that she is “still staying in Yishun…It is a very nice, comfortable place and I have been living there for many years.”
According to reporters from Today who actually went down to the car park of the HDB block that our president lives, there are two parking lots near the lift lobby that are reserved for police vehicles.
The reporters then got to know that these changes “took place hours after Mdm Halimah was declared President-elect Wednesday.”
Okay, that’s reasonable.
Until someone took a picture of this and posted in Hardwarezone forums with a very apt headline: “GPGT: Day 1 at Yistana already got Yishun Siao Lang being #crazy”
Could the driver think that red lot = season parking lot?
But it doesn’t matter because…
While we cannot confirm that it’s the same location, they do look exactly like where our president lives.
Well. Yishun being Yishun again.
Still, we’ve got to admit in 12 months, the word “Yishun” has appeared in the media so many times, we’re pretty sure the next Jack Neo movie is going to be about Yishun.
And oh, just so you know, those lots have become “Reserved lots”, just like our “Reserved Election” #cannotresistthisjoke
