Here’s what happened.
Dangerous Crossing Caught on Camera
The incident occurred on 14 Mar 2025 at approximately 5:31 PM near Sumang Walk in Punggol.
A video uploaded to the Facebook page SGRV shows a double-decker bus pulling into a bus stop.
On the opposite side of the road, about four students in school uniforms appeared to be trying to catch the bus, prompting them to jaywalk and dash across the road.
When they reached the road divider, two students stopped. The other two students, however, continued crossing without checking for traffic and were almost struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Fortunately, the car stopped in time, avoiding what could have been a serious accident.
The car’s horn can be heard clearly in the video footage, alerting the students to the danger.

Despite the close call, one of the students continued running toward the bus while the other returned to the divider to wait with classmates for another opportunity to cross safely.
The video shows the student who continued running successfully reaching the bus stop.
School Responds to Incident
The video sparked considerable debate after being posted online.
Many internet users described the situation as dangerous and felt the students should have been more careful about their personal safety when crossing roads.
Others pointed out that drivers should reduce their speed when passing through school zones to prevent such incidents.

He emphasized that student safety is critical, and the school will continue working with parents to remind and educate students on safe road use.
