All the people here for the drama: sorry, but Sylvia Lim has decided that she doesn’t want her own spin-off show.

Worker’s Party chair Sylvia Lim said that she isn’t going to further pursue the matter of her alleged phone hacking. Here’s the finale of the “Sylvia Lim versus K Shanmugam” mini-series.

Wait, Who Hacked Whose Phone?

If you’re not caught up with Parliament drama, WP chairman and a Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC Ms Sylvia Lim claimed that her iPhone issued a threat warning. Her iPhone allegedly informed her that her phone has been the subject of hacking by “state-sponsored attackers”.

She then basically wondered indirectly that if the Singapore government has hacked her phone.

In response, The Minister of Home Affairs, Mr K. Shanmugam, questioned her intentions of raising the issue in Parliament instead of informing the relevant authorities and conducting an investigation.

Basically, he’s saying she’s trying to stir up drama lah. But Mr Shanmugam still took this matter very seriously and had instructed the police to follow up with Ms Lim.

Satisfied With Shanmugam’s Answer To Her Question in Parliament

Ms Lim met with the police on Wednesday (23 February) “regarding a notification that appears similar to what Apple had sent to various Apple phone users”, the police said.

She told the officers during the meeting that she was satisfied with Mr Shanmugam’s answer to her question in Parliament, and does not wish to pursue the matter further.

She didn’t file a police report, nor did she hand her phone over to the police for forensic examination. The police have since treated the matter as closed.

Sorry, Mr Shanmugam. Guess you won’t know who is trying to get into Ms Lim’s phone.

Is Her Claim That Apple Sent A Notification To Her Real?

Since she didn’t hand over her phone to the police, we’ll never know for sure whether she really got that notification.

But our cute office cat did some digging on Apple’s website and found that they really do issue such notifications to a small number of people.

Our cat can probably explain this better than I do, so you can watch this video to see the results of his investigations:
