For the unaware, tattoo sessions can be arduously long, for the patron and even more so for the artist. Indeed it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to term tattoo artists the surgeons of the inking industry, what with the long hours involved and sheer focus and intensity required.
And perhaps that’s why tattoo sessions usually cost quite a bit. It’s compensation for not only the material provided and utilised, but also the artist’s hard work and dedication.
Tattoo Artist Looking for Man Who Ghosted Him After Getting a Tattoo Without Paying
Alas, however, it seems that tattoo artists aren’t that different from fancy restaurants: in the sense that they could both get patrons who allegedly dine and dash.
On 3 July 2023, Inkvasion Tattoo Studio unveiled through a series of Instagram stories that a male patron had bailed on his payment of S$500. It was supposed to be compensation for a seven-hour long tattoo session that took place on 30 June 2023.
When chased for payment, the patron ended up blocking the tattoo artist, Brandon’s, messages.
It should be noted that there was supposed to be a follow-up session on 18 July to complete the tattoos. A S$100 deposit had already been paid beforehand.
Left with no other choice, the tattoo studio revealed that it has since filed a police report.
They also released a wanted poster of the suspect, alongside intricate details concerning his appearance, clothing and tattoos.
Snippets of their conversations also emerged.
From the brief looks of it, the patron had gone to the toilet after the tattoo session ended for the day.
Instead of going back, he texted that something came up and he had to leave. The payment would be transferred instead, he texted.
But the money never came in. And so Brandon chased him for it later that night, only for the patron to renege on his words and ask if he could pay before 18 July instead.
When Brandon said no, the patron blocked him.
Update
Just hours ago, the tattoo studio released an update on their Instagram page.
Apparently, the patron had unblocked Brandon to send a text, before blocking him again.
In the message, the patron made provoking taunts and remarks, and said that he doesn’t care about the attention.
He also accused Brandon of playing the victim and spreading lies.
In response, the tattoo studio stated that the patron had allegedly shortchanged another tattoo artist S$80 as well, and that they are only saying the truth.
If found guilty of obtaining services in a dishonest or fraudulent manner, he could face an imprisonment term of up to ten years, a fine, or both.
