Last week was not a pleasant one.

We reported two fatal traffic accidents and one murder at a residential unit in Bedok. An Indonesian domestic helper also died after allegedly falling from the sixth storey of an HDB unit.

Now, another tragic incident was witnessed on Saturday.

2 Girls Found Dead at The Foot of TPY HDB

Two teenage girls were found dead at the foot of an HDB block in Toa Payoh on Saturday night (3 Apr).

The tragic incident occurred at Block 143, Toa Payoh Lorong 2. The police said they were alerted to the case at around 10pm.

When officers arrived, they found two girls, aged 15 and 16, lying motionless at the foot of the block.

Both teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedic.

The girls had reportedly fallen from the 26th floor, according to TODAY.

While the police have classed this as a case of unnatural death, they do not suspect foul play.

Investigations are ongoing.

Metres Apart From Each Other & Wearing Identical Bracelets

According to Lianhe Wanbaothe two girls were less than a metre apart from each other.

They were both wearing identical bracelets which were seized by the police for investigations.

When reporters from the local Chinese daily arrived on the scene, they found that the area next to the basketball court had been cordoned off.

Two middle-aged women were seen waiting with the police at the cordoned-off area.

The bodies of the two girls were first covered in white sheets and then in a blue tent.

According to a witness, one man and two women were sitting at a stone table at the bottom of the HDB block at the time of the incident.

They heard a loud bang not too far away from where they were and realised that someone had fallen from the building. They immediately called the police.

Sources also told Lianhe Wanbao that the two girls were close friends.

What Exactly Does Unnatural Death Mean?

In Singapore, deaths are classed as “natural” if the death of the individual occurred due to a known medical illness (e.g. cancer) or a sudden stop in bodily function (e.g. sudden cardiac arrest).

When the cause of death is from external forces, such as suicide or foul play, they are classified as unnatural deaths.

In this instance, the deaths of both girls were classed as unnatural because the police suspect the involvement of such external forces.
