An antagonist is a given in almost most of today’s existing fairytales. What’s the fun of having a story flow so seamlessly without adding a pinch of sabotage?
Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?
We have all gotten the impression that all these are mere works of fiction – the dwarves, the tamed and awfully hospitable wild animals, the prince who so-willingly expressed his undying love for the corpse of a woman he barely knew – to an extent, yes.
Sabotage, however…
Yesterday (21 October 2019), the newly appointed royal consort to Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Ms Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi, was dismissed from her position for allegedly attempting to sabotage the Queen’s appointment.
This happened just three months after she was appointed royal consort.
The Second Royal Noble Consort in Thailand’s History
The 34-year-old was a former nurse and a trained pilot. She had been in the King’s royal bodyguard unit and in the military as a General prior to her appointment as the King’s Royal Noble Consort.
Ms Sineenat was given the Royal Noble Consort title on the King’s birthday in July of this year. This was also after the coronation of the Queen, 41-year-old former Thai Airways Stewardess, Ms Suthida Tidjai.
The title known as Chao Khun Phra has not been appointed in over a century, making Ms Sineenat the second Royal Noble Consort in Thailand’s History.
Disloyalty to the King
According to a statement released by the palace, Ms Sineenat was taken off her position because her actions “showed objection and exerted pressure” towards hindering the Queen’s coronation.
The statement has it that the former Royal Noble Consort had executed “inappropriate actions against the monarchy and the nation” that divided the palace.
As quoted from the statement, “She is also not content with the title bestowed upon her, doing everything to rise to the level of the queen.”
According to CNA, Ms Sineenat displayed disobedience towards the royal couple and had abused her authority and title by giving commands which she had claimed was on behalf of the King.
A Shock to The Nation
According to CNA, the revocation of her title came as a shock to the nation and her downfall soon became the talk of the town in various publications and social media platforms all over the world.
Of course, with every fairytale comes a not-so-happy-ending, and this was it for today’s breaking news.
