There’s a reason why people often advised that parents should never ever leave kids alone at pools.
Tragedies happen in an instant, and had someone been nearby to help, the 5-year-old girl may have survived… but she didn’t.
This poor mother would likely be wracked with grief, guilt and regret for the rest of her life simply because she took 20 mins to relieve herself and prepare a quick dinner before heading back to the pool to be with her daughter.

After all, there’s a saying that goes, “most women say there is no greater pain than to bear a child. I say there is no greater pain than to bury one.”
5YO Drowned After She Was Left Alone in the Pool for Over 20 Minutes
On Oct 8, 2020, between 6:10pm and 6:30pm, at the swimming pool at The Asana along Queen’s Road, a deadly tragedy occurred.
A mother took her 5-year-old daughter to the pool to play, but because she had to answer the call of nature, she decided to leave her daughter there at the pool to play by herself.
After doing her business in the loo, she took some extra time to prepare a quick dinner before heading back to the pool.
Everything just took 20 mins, but by the time, she returned to the pool, her daughter was missing.
Unbeknownst to her, her daughter had already drowned 10 minutes ago.
CCTV footage
According to the CCTV footage, the 5-year-old girl walked along the poolside and then returned to the jacuzzi, before running to the other end of the pool.
At about 6:20pm, a wave of water suddenly appeared on-screen, though the disturbance that caused the wave happened off-screen.

This was where the investigator believed that the girl may have fallen into the pool and drowned.
The girl’s blue floating board was also seen slowly drifting away.
The CCTV also captured the mum returning to the pool at around 6:31pm.
She rounded the pool a few times trying to locate her daughter but failed.
She then recruited a security guard to help.

The guard noticed that the girl is motionless at the bottom of the pool.
Her head was facing downwards so it might be possible that she hit her head at the bottom of the pool when she fell, rendering her unconscious.
The guard quickly rescued the young girl from the pool and sent her to the hospital.
Unfortunately, she never regains consciousness.
After three painful days filled with heartache and likely plenty of tears, the parents decided to take their daughter off mechanical ventilation.
