If you haven’t heard, here’s some interesting celebrity news for you! One of the members of the newly form K-Pop Group BOYS24 is not a South Korean.
Yep, that’s true; no doubts about it. This mysterious member is Isaac Voo, a Malaysian from Kota Kinabula, Sabah. Malaysia may have produced many talents over the years, but Isaac takes the top of the group since he has made it into a K-pop group!
How did he end up in a Korean K-Pop band when he is nowhere near being a Korean??!
Well, for one, he speaks fluent Korean! That’s kinda like the pre-requisite, right? Besides speaking fluent Korean, he is also a fantastic dancer and a fantastic performer who takes every challenge that was thrown his way in his strides.
Here’s some juicy facts about Isaac.
He joined the BOYS24 programme (an idol surviving programme) which started airing last August. The show started with 27 members and the goal was to choose 9 members to form a new K-pop group.
The results were announced recently and Isaac was one of the 9 finalists in the show who will become part of the new K-pop group BOYS24. The remaining 8 members are all Koreans. They are Hwang Inho, Jeong Yeontae, Kim Jinsub, Kim Sunghyun, Yoo Youngoo, Jin Sungho, Lee Inpyo and Han Hyunuk. Isaac made up the 9th member of the group.
According to Soompi (another celebrity news site), all 27 members of the initial programme have completed 260 concerts since the show started! Golly, can you imagine performing almost every day of your life?
Here’s more personal information about Isaac Voo.
His full name is Isaac Voo Kai Meng, goes by his fandom name Sparkles and is born on 12 December 1994 in Kota Kinabula, Sabah. He is the youngest in the family.
He is 176cm tall and weighs 56kg. His blood type is O.
He started dancing when he was 17 when he joined the audition for his school’s “Teacher’s Day Performance”
He was one of the top 4 finalists in the AlphaBAT audition in Malaysia when they were searching for their 10th member. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), he was not the chosen one to join AlphaBAT.
He joined the 2015 SM Global Audition in Singapore 2015, but did not manage to clinch any deal during the audition. This is probably where he gained experience and learnt how to become a star.
He studied at SJK (C) Chung Hwa Likas and SM Lok Yuk and was active in volleyball. His schoolmates are probably cheering him on right at home!
His love for Korea and all things Korean started with his love of the TV show, Running Man. His Korean idols are Kwang Soo and Ji Hyo. (Don’t we all do?)
He is a committed singer. For the sake of his art, he doesn’t smoke or drink and do not visit clubs.
Besides all the above, Isaac is above all a committed singer who did not let past failures get him down. Looking at his history, he did experience a few setbacks in his journey to stardom, but his perseverance has kept him grounded and focused to finally attain what he wanted!
Who knows, he might be invited to Running Man as a guest and if he says just one “leh”, “loh” or “lah”, it’s going to send Singaporeans and Malaysians into a frenzy. #justsaying
