Burger lovers will agree on one thing – it’s the whole package that counts. If you’re having bacon, it’s got to be crisp and with the right crunch level.
Prefer onions? Only the biggest, juiciest rings will do.
And we all know what happens when we talk about cheese. The best yellow slices in town qualify, and it’s got to melt just right.
We’re talking about golden ooze that trickles down the meat patty. It almost reaches the bottom of the burger bun, but it just stopped itself at that point.
In all its cheesy perfection.
Now, that’s a burger.
Where do you get the cheesiest burger to sink your teeth into? We’ve found out of just the place. And guess what? It’s right across the border in Malaysia!
The Cheese Meleleh Burger Series
Known for its outright seductiveness, the Cheese Meleleh burger literally causes drool to fall out of your mouth and brings your jaw down to the floor.
The burger comes in three patty flavours – beef, lamb and chicken.
There was also a limited edition deer burger at one time. The patties for lamb and beef are made from scratch, and in case you didn’t guess it already, the burgers fly off the grill in record time!
Cheese Meleleh tends to get packed in its shop from 8 pm onwards, so if you want to get a cheesy bite, you’d better head over early. Their best-seller? Chicken.
Wanna know why?
The chicken burger is actually a large chunk of chicken that’s been seasoned with a private mix of spices (trust us, there’s no way you’re gonna get the marinade recipe out of them!).
It’s then placed on the grill to bakar to patty heaven. The smell is so, so good and distracting, I tell you.
Wanna know more about the fellas behind the grill?
Well, they’ve been in the burger business for some time, and they believe that burgers should be priced reasonably. Which is precisely why they start selling their burgers from a decent RM6.50 onwards.
Want an extra hook-up for cheese? Add RM2 for the signature melted cheese element.
Here’s a word of advice if you’re heading there to eat the chicken burger; you’ll need to have some extra minutes with you.
As they’re going to barbeque an actual chunk of chicken mean instead of the usual Ramli burger patty, you’ll need to give the meat some time to cook to its tender, loving goodness.
Do, also, note that this is ultimately a roadside burger stall.
Â
So if you’re expecting some fancy, air-conditioned place sit and eat your burger, you might have to look it over again.
One thing for sure, though.
Nasi lemak burgers might come and go, but cheese burgers like these babies? They’re going to stick around for a long, long time. And they deserve to be eaten as and when you and I can.
Simply because cheese burgers make the world a better place.
