#ThirstyThursday: Ben & Jerry’s Netflix & Chilll’d: Hello? Peanut Butter World??

Full disclosure: we didn’t pay for this ourselves since this was a media invite. But you’d know that we’re not biased even for free products.

(Okay, maybe a little bit biased.)

Oh yeah, I was one of the first people in Singapore to have tasted this ice cream flavour. And if the people over at the event can be trusted, the event was a BIG thing.

Big enough for free food other than the review pint.

At a certain company’s office. But you already know which since you’ve read the title.

The big question is: what kind of flavour is Netflix? Is it a flavour that’s red and black? Is it something that people usually eat when watching Netflix?

Clues: It’s nuts. It’s salty. It’s sweet.

New Flavour: Netflix & Chilll’d

And it turns out to be… peanut butter?

The full flavour: Peanut Butter Ice Cream with Sweet & Salty Pretzel Swirls & Fudge Brownie.

But why?

Nobody really knows why it’s peanuts of all things. But here’s what the ice cream looks like on the inside:

Fairly small bits of peanuts, obvious swirls of pretzels, and fudge brownies.

Taking another serving, because I have the very difficult job of eating ice cream and ensuring that Ben & Jerry’s provides consistent quality for the consumers.

AND just to make sure that I’m doing my review the right way, I’m bringing home my review pint to eat it exactly how it should be eaten: while Netflix and chilling.

(You might be envious of my job, but what they don’t tell you about these kinds of jobs are that they pay you peanuts.)

After eating it three times, I can tell you that…

Eating It While Watching Something Is A Bad Idea

I open my episode of The Witcher. Open my pint of B&J. Jaskier sings Toss a coin to your witcher~ as I dig my spoon in.

It started off with a strong peanut flavour. It’s not as strong as just straight-up eating peanut butter, but it’s well balanced and creamy.

But it’s bad. I can’t concentrate on what I’m watching.

As I continue spooning the pint, I find my focus shifting from Geralt to what flavours I’m finding in the pint.

The small crunchy bits of peanuts and pretzels provide little pops of texture here and there, and when you hit the fudge brownies it’s Oooh.

It’s sweet, nutty, and salty hitting you all at once. A textural delight with little grittiness from the small bits, fudgy from the brownies, and creamy all in one pint.

If it weren’t for one small flaw, I think I’d just eaten the whole pint. If someone asked me how was The Witcher, I might have just answered them “Peanut Butter”.

Here’s the small flaw: it’s lacking in a crunchy texture. Add in a sprinkle of honey roasted peanuts, and my New Year resolutions will be further than gone.

I guess if you’re adding chips or some nuts to accompany your Netflix binge, the pint makes a lot of sense.

Rating: 4.5/5

Netflix’s flavour is a very welcomed addition to the B&J lineup. Those who prefer a more one-dimensional peanut ice cream experience might prefer the Peanut Butter Cup, but those looking for a more varied one will find this very enjoyable.

Peanut Butter World…?

Look, B&J.

You have this certain flavour called Peanut Butter World, which is “Milk Chocolate Ice Cream with Peanut Buttery Swirls & Chocolate Cookie Swirls.”

Image: Ben & Jerry’s

Does it make sense that a flavour that’s primarily chocolate be named that?

Meanwhile, you have Netflix & Chilll’d, for which the description is:

“There’s something for everyone to watch on Netflix & flavors for everyone to enjoy from Ben & Jerry’s, so we’ve teamed up to bring you a chillaxing new creation that’s certain to satisfy any sweet or salty snack craving. It’s a flavorful world, and everyone is invited to grab a spoon.”

Look carefully at the last sentence.

“It’s a flavorful world, and everyone is invited to grab a spoon.”

I think we all know what the real Peanut Butter World is.
