Me: LALALA I CAN’T HEAR YOU LALALALA ANYTHING LESS THAN 10 IS UNACCEPTABLE.
And thus… we’re already done with the article.
Rating: 10/5 #totallynotbiased.
Pack it up and go, people.
…
But Really, What Are We Reviewing?
These:
Ben & Jerry’s Pint Slices, The Tonight Dough flavour and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavour.
Each goes for S$5.50, which is a hefty price at the amount of 89ml.
And if you’re anything like me, you already have a stock of Ben & Jerry’s in your fridge. The usual 500ml bucket goes for about S$13, so that’s quite a price difference.
And you’d already know that Ben, as in the Ben in Ben & Jerry’s has anosmia, meaning a lack of sense of smell and a near loss of taste, which is why B&J got their distinctive ice cream style with lots of chunky things inside.
But we’re not here to talk about B&J’s history, so let’s continue on to the ice cream.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough: Taste Test
On the package, this says “Vanilla ice cream bars with the gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough and fudge flakes, covered in a dark chocolatey coating”.
But…
Opening the inside is only a little disappointing. By a little, I mean they are missing fudge flakes in there. And by little, I mean very disappointed by the lack of fudge flakes.
Because when I bit into the pint slice, there was naught. Nada. No fudge flakes.
The vanilla ice cream is good, but it just ain’t the same without the chunky style of the flakes. Most of the pint slice was a non-chunky ice cream, which I do believe that Ben himself would have been quite disappointed to experience.
But maybe, maybe it’s just dumb luck. Maybe mine just happened to be the one that wasn’t mixed well. So I checked another reviewer and found this:
Welp, guess not.
And I have to say… considering the other B&J flavours, I’d have to give this one a huge miss. Especially at the price.
This is good ice cream and idea, but poor execution and shit product.

The Tonight Dough: Taste Test
Hopefully, this would be better.
On the packaging, this says “caramel ice cream bars with chocolate cookie swirls & gobs of peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough, covered in a dark chocolatey coating with cookie crumbs”.
Which is already twice as long as the previous ice cream’s description.
But is it twice as good?
Already, you can see something clearly missing there. You can’t see much of the dark chocolate swirls.
I went into this angry.
How can B&J produce such an inferior product? Is this how the new blood at B&J honour their founders? They even put Jimmy Fallon as a clear marketing scheme to sell more products! Burn them! Boycott the pint slices!
But then…
Woah. Although it seems to be lacking the chocolate swirls, everything just seems to work here. It starts with the nutty sweet flavours of the caramel ice cream coating your tongue, then as you bite into the chunks the peanut butter adds to the oomph to create a complex flavour.
And then the dark chocolate coating finishes everything, and in the end, it’s a pleasant mix of a little salty, sweet, and just enough bitter to make it pack quite a difference from other flavours.
I can only imagine if a certain ingredient was only inside, this could have been even better.
