It’s almost the end of 2020, and COVID-19 has certainly made it feel like a slog for most.
However, nearing the end of the year also brings us into a season of giving.
And if you a few spare pieces of clothing, you could also spare a few moments to donate to The Barn.
Thrift Shop Frequented by Migrant Workers Needed More People to Donate Men’s Clothing
If you’ve never heard of them before, here’s what the thrift shop does.
They basically sell clothing, accessories, household appliances and other miscellaneous items at an affordable price.
All this is done to help the poor and needy within the community.
The store is also pretty popular among migrant workers too.
However, a Facebook post made on 16 Dec informed that they were in need of more men’s clothing.
The post stated that many migrant workers frequent their outlet at Penjuru.
One even stated that The Barn helped in saving costs, as prices from regular malls wouldn’t leave them with enough to send things home.
Since then, the post has taken off with over 115 reactions and shared around 416 times as of this writing.
Community Came Together
Even within the comments section, you can see the overwhelming support people are giving to this store.
Many more comments were similar in fashion.
In fact, the support received was so much that on 22 Dec, a follow-up post was made in response.
They mentioned that thanks to the contributions, they now had a good supply of men’s clothing.
The only problem was that they’re unable to do any pick-up donations due to the lack of manpower.
On the flip side, this also shows you how overwhelming the initial response was.
For those who still want to donate (not just men’s clothing), you can drop them off at the following outlets and times.
However, do note that the Katong and Ang Mo Kio outlets will be closed on 30 and 31 of December and from 1 to 4 Jan next year.
The Katong store will be open on 27 and 29 Dec and everything will reopen starting 5 Jan 2021.
So you’ll still have some time to sort through your stuff and see what you want to donate.
Just make sure that items you donate are in workable or good condition and that items cannot be exchanged or refunded.
You can find out more information about The Barn, what and how to donate here and check out their Facebook page for updates.
